PUPPETQUEERS is a PWYC (pay what you can) and DIY puppet slam event dedicated to uplifting and celebrating queer artists working within puppetry. From long-standing puppeteers to those new in the scene to those who may be experimenting with puppetry as a form for their art for the very first time, PUPPETQUEERS offers a home and a stage for all of them. PUPPETQUEERS also often features an element where the audience can contribute meaningfully to the work.

⭐️PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT⭐️

Some artists are born performers, Emi had performance thrust upon them. They are a multidisciplinary visual artist and writer who is learning to love the stage. They enjoy making pictures, pressing buttons, and telling anyone who will listen about professional wrestling. Emi eats banned books. Emi reeeeeaaaally thinks that you should sign up for a library card.

We are so so excited to get Em onstage with us this weekend at KISS the SHOW @theplaygroundtheater . Saturday Sept 20th at 7pm. Reserve your seat for FREE at the link in bio. 🔗😻

The Playground Theater is a 100% donation-based venue supported in part by grants from the Illinois Arts Council. It is a water-only venue. As always, anyone can come see our show for free, but donations to keep Playground running are welcomed at the door and tips for KISS are accepted at the end of the show. 💋

Curious about clown? Want to peek behind the curtain? Show up early before every KISS to watch FOREPLAY. Sign up to play in our bio, no signups required to watch. See you there ❤️🤡

For over 30 years, the 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀–our grant-eligible institution-within-an-institution–has welcomed audiences into our ever-changing live shows. But why? Who are these guys on the walls, and how do they get up there? Who was Joe Biden? What is history? And more importantly, what is art??

In the Long Sunset of the American Empire, the artists and curators of the Neo-Futurist Theater take a hard look at the Hall, the Theater, and the 46th president. Join Joanna, Neil, aussie, Em, Andrew, and Connor as they endeavor to make sense–or at least, content–out of the country’s final president. Much to consider!
