Achievement unlocked!! 🔓 Getting into a river was on my bucket list for 2026, so started off with a very gentle pootle down the River Wensum in Norwich where we joined the very lovely and (very friendly) @cowtowerdippers for a refreshing 12°C jaunt. I’d not yet swum in a river proper, so this was very exciting for me!

This is a super friendly local group that meets every Saturday, there are some simple steps to get in and out, and people mostly swim upstream and then head back to get out in the same place. This was also the first time I’ve been able to use my tow float bag so stash my phone.

Being at river level was so wonderful in the sunlight; we swam with swans, signets, and herons – and it’s very much their river! I felt a little like I was in @raveonfortheavon!

Excellent evening, wonderful film, @raveonfortheavon , with very good discussion afterwards with @cowtowerdippers and @riverwaveneytrust and @norfolkriverstrust , all really good points about rivers being for people and wildlife, to share and be aware, for the #RightToSwim in our rivers and for clean water. Plus discussion among our swim book club too. Well done all. #SwimmableCities and towns, Norwich, Bungay and Bristol. Good luck to the @conhambathing and their inspiring parallel campaign, though they gave more obstacles than we do in Norfolk and Suffolk. We all want pegs, now!

Huge thank you to @thelionsdennorwich for the donation of floats to keep all us @cowtowerdippers safe and visible in the water.

As ever what a beautiful morning with all these lovely people.
