“What you already hold” — like a mantra I needed to sing to get this idea into my gear-hungry brain, always looking for something better, always searching for more: maybe everything that matters is already here, right at my feet, and everything I’ve gathered along the way is enough to write what I believe are the songs of my maturity.

Let me tell you the story of how this album came to life. It will be out on September 25th.

First, I was lucky enough to record the first sessions to analog tape with my friend Sébastien Gros at @coxinhell studio.

The guitar and vocal takes sounded beautiful, but some of the performances still felt a little too immature. These songs needed a few more shows before they could really live inside me.

Some of those takes stayed, some were doubled, and others were recorded again in my own studio.

Those first sessions laid down something essential: through recording to tape, I realized that live performance, its imperfections, and the color of analog recording would become part of the signature of my sound.

Making my folk sound more like Nick Drake than Ed Sheeran.

I also want to give a special thanks to my friend @charliemaurin , @perrotmarc and @mixedbyolivier whose ears and advice have been invaluable throughout this whole creative process.

I then started arranging those recordings in my own studio, using the instruments and gear around me: keyboards, percussion, bass, 6- and 12-string electric guitars…

Wanting to keep exploring this analog aesthetic, my friend Dorian Broussard aka @riflardo_riflardo lent me a 4-track cassette recorder… and I literally fell in love with it.

He’s never getting it back 👹👹👹

That’s when I realized that the sound I was looking for didn’t require expensive gear or pristine perfection.

Quite the opposite: the hiss, saturation and imperfections that came almost instantly from this little machine naturally gave me what I’d spent so much time trying to find elsewhere.

Before discovering the 4-track, I had already tried mixing the entire album digitally.

Happy release day! Our ‚Travel Song‘- the first collaboration of @carloslealartist and me is out today!!

It’s a song about traveling, how it changes you, opens up perspectives and how you suddenly feel connected to the whole world. The song was also inspired by the story of our friend Walo Kamm who was one of the first Globetrotters, traveling the world when there was no Lonelyplanet and Easyjet yet- only curiosity and intuition.

We’ve recorded and produced this song in the south of France and beautiful @coxinhell with @mtmsmusic and @aykoma7 - we had a great time in the studio diving into the song! Thanks @nico_quere for tecording & mixing!! Happy to share it with you!! Happy release day!!
