Hi! I’m Tara and I love making art, being a silly goose, singing sad songs, providing love and care, and being a lil’ baby queen princess tough guy.

I think every photo I took from Hoedown was either from backstage or onstage, plus one loft shot. I had SO much fun playing w/ everybody; I freaking love music so much & I freaking love our community so much & it was just the best time. It's too late at night to have the words to appropriately express my gratitude, so I will just say thanks to the following people... Thanks @coyote.starlight & @anniebalaska and @midnightson__ for being AMAZING lead humans & for picking great tunes (and thanks to @gagbass , @ratt_mobrrtz , @i_am_gret , & @fiddlemethat for slaying so many amazing songs, thanks @fionarona & @fionaroseandtheshowponies for an awesome set of covers & originals & for sharing my tunes, too, (and the moon ;)-, thanks Bennett for being my ride-or-die & for also riding all those beautiful solos like the best rodeo clown; everything sounded so incredibly rad, thanks to @hopehopehopes for letting me join you, @rebecca_menzia , @meghannwelsh , @sourkrauszer , & Justine for those gorgeous vocal pieces, thanks to @theparkstrippers for literally making my bass drum dreams come true, thanks @caseysmithproject & @yesker for being awesome friends & having me join you even though we live far away and my schedule is nuts (& thanks to @chad.rad.dad , Forrest, @silverthetooth , @notfrigidbrigid , & Kyle for all being down to rehearse on a Sat morning!), thanks to EVERYONE who played, thanks to @fishgourd & @elifbarry for hanging speakers & @nrth.karolina for barn beauty and poster magic, thanks to @rebecca_menzia for being the matriarch of amazing art. Post party shots: thanks @ashleydaydreaming for making my ear Hoedown worthy (your cig is still in my ashtray full of rocks, will hit you up soon!) Also, plz friends, help me brainstorm how to make inverse chaps for my big baby 28" bass drum...came home & thought i rode the hobby horses too hard, lolololol. --//-- See all you rough riders at @girdwood_brewing_co tonight 6:30-8:40, if you need some libations/dinner/tunes! #hoedown2026 #chughousehoedown2026 #musicrules #friendsrule #giveyourlovetoacowboymanhesgonnaloveyouashardasheca

Thankful to be making music with so many besties tonight! The Hoedown has been such a dream over all these years and i'm excited to celebrate its last ride with so many close friends. I'll be accompanying so many amazing leading ladies (and one cowboy) including the sparrow-of-song @coyote.starlight and Her Honkytonk Smorgasbord Picnic (w/Cheese), the magnetic and musically talented @anniebalaska , the gifted rose of the circus and songwriting @fionarona (and all her @fionaroseandtheshowponies ), the harmonist/arranger and beautiful brass babe @hopehopehopes (and her babe-band of absolute SIRENS @meghannwelsh , Justine, @sourkrauszer , and @rebecca_menzia ), and the king of the Stable, himself, @caseysmithproject (and his cutie cowpokes... @yesker , @chad.rad.dad , @silverthetooth , and more!) Stoked to have my bestie, Bennett, behind the board, and miss @muskratmolly_ak behind the bar! I'll be bumpin' the bass drum with @theparkstrippers marching band and leading a couple tunes, myself, and the rest of the lineup includes just as many more stellar friends as the ensembles I'm playing in! While I'll be sharing the stage with her, gotta give @rebecca_menzia a solo shoutout for always opening her home and heart for these events and curating community the way you do, Becca. You're a national treasure and I can't wait to ride into the sunset together this eve! Thanks to all the Chughouse bubs for making art magic always...it takes a village, and i love being a part of yours <3 Finally, last photo is the final poster created by my roadie-with-the-mostie, my Czech queen, @nrth.karolina ! Thanks for the beautiful artwork and can't wait to party with you! SO MANY BABES IN ONE NIGHT!!! LOVE YOU, BESTIES! LET'S PARTYYYYY!! #chughouse #hoedown #chughousehoedown2026 #mymomneverwenttoprisonbutimaygetdrunktonight #youdonthavetocallmedarlingdarlingBUTJUSTCALLMEBECAUSEIFUCKINGLOVEHANGINGWITHYOUALLSOMUCH

Special thanks to @elifbarry for honoring the tradition and sending me into early retirement with his old pedal steel; I'm stoked shitless, my friend! Thank you!!!! Props to Alex or Ann (whichever one of you took the dreamy engagement-style photo of me and @displaced.cave.woman ; it's as dreamy as the night was listening to those sisters sing as we waltzed!) And enjoy just ONE random, kat-analog, chili-vodka-bloody-mary-at-the-Mecca-inspired art piece, lol. Major gratitude to @coyote.starlight for sharing "Magnolia Wind" with me. If I ever get married, I'll fly your @bethchrisman and please sing that at the wedding! Thanks to @displaced.cave.woman and @bethchrisman for the perfect soundtrack to my late-night poetry penning with your "4 in the mooooorning" version of "If the Drinking Don't Kill Me" it was so so so good! Well, @salmonfest 2026 was EPIC! Crazy to think it's been 15 years! It was so nice to be back with my friends in @supersaturatedsugarstrings & @theparkstrippers ; we had such fun sets on the Ocean & Headwaters Stages this year (thanks for bringing so much rad energy, everyone) & the parades were WILD! I got a new 28" marching drum that I'm not quite strong enough for YET, but joy & adrenaline are powerful drivers & the whole thing made the parading kinda surreal & extra exciting (which is saying something bc parades are hella-fun, as is!) Thanks to all my bandmates for all the help getting settled into the BEAST! It was so nice to see old friends & make new friends (@hope.cassitymusic @bbrunzy , @kentklineman ), to go moonlight swimming in the inlet (@jmarok thanks for being down for WHATEVER), dance HARD (too many to tag), go on rambling long bus-rides w/ besties (@coyote.starlight BUS #1 lololol), wander for hydration w/ @bologo.co (thanks for being the human "it's after 6a.m." clock), hear so many new bands & so many of my fav bands (@wiley_post_band thanks for the most epic split-solo of the fest between @tonypmontana22 & that young sax player...SO POWERFUL), play w/ old friends after so many years (@therealsethfreeman thanks for sitting in w/ @supersaturatedsugarstrings ; i missed you & your music), march w/ so many babes (@theparkstrippers ), get teased for drinking hot cocoa on PARTYNITE (@djriah ), late night rip w/ @ninaweisman @lewin.jim & @tysonjamesalteri (thanks @lanacarse & @mamacitaselita for sharing your fire), do acro yoga to @aylaraymusic , eat @pepespaella w/ friends (& good ramen & as many Grillo's as my electrolyte-depleted body could handle), be a welcome 3am boxtruck guest (@mgseverin ), experience one of my fav @supersaturatedsugarstrings sets EVER (@djriah @camcartland @kevinsview @sequoiabean I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH), & close the festival by sharing a stage w/ @timeastonsongwriter & a bunch of amazing musicians. Thanks @salmonfest ! THANKS ALASKA! I'll be at @vansdivebar this THURSDAY at 8pm w/ @aylaraymusic , @chrischristyquintet , & @lich_czar , and FRIDAY w/ @supersaturatedsugarstrings over @muskoxfarm ! HOPE TO SEE YOU!

one day I’ll write a love letter to Alaska - but tomorrow, let’s plan to dance and cry together at the @funeral_horses show while @coyote.starlight serenades us from tarot pulls to change to friendship to dance - this place has changed me - isn’t that all we can ask?

I’m playing tonight at “into the woods” there’s a cabin I used to spend time at 25 years ago that got relocated. Rehearing last night with Amanda went well and she said “I don’t want to play covers, Play another one of your weird great Daniel Johnston esque songs” thanks, community of ester, golden eagle for letting us rehearse in your living room. I hope I’ll see some old friends tonight.
