Today, we have the pleasure of introducing Director of Large who enjoys the spooky season!
Barbara West (Class of 2020) is returning for her second term as a Director at Large! She is based in Orange County, works in event technology at In-N-Out Burger, and looks forward to help foster community through her service on the CAS board. You may have seen her earlier this year when she volunteered to assist with check-in and fundraising tech at Hospitality Uncorked 2026.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find her watching movies, playing board games, exploring good gluten free food, or hanging out with her partner and two new kittens, Mordecai & Ash. 🐈‍⬛🐈🎬🎲

And yes, she loves the holidays and a good theme. 🎃👻

Meet DJ Norman — Your Director of Student Engagement 👥🌟

DJ loves helping students connect the dots between who they are, what they are curious about, and the careers they can build next.

DJ has built a career helping great people find great opportunities—and he has done it across some of the world’s most recognizable brands. He is currently a Sr. Manager Talent Acquisition, Sales & Marketing. Previously, he served as Sr. Director of Recruiting, Tech & Products for PayPal and Global Head of Experienced Recruiting at Atlassian, a software development company. He also led recruiting at Meta, formerly Facebook, and spent 6.5 years with The Walt Disney Company as Director, Professional Recruitment for Parks Experiences & Consumer Products. Across more than 25 years in human resources, DJ has led large HR functions across North America, Asia PAC, and Mexico in union and non-union environments, rolling out enterprise-level strategies, tools, and processes.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Human Resources from Cal Poly Pomona in 1993. While attending Cal Poly Pomona he played on the Men’s Basketball team for four years. He has continued his education receiving a HR Strategy certification from Cornell University and is AIRS Certified Diversity Recruiter. He is an active CBA Alumni Board member where he enjoys volunteering and mentoring students and alumni.

Personally, he was raised in the Bay Area (Oakland, CA) and currently lives in Huntington Beach, CA with his wife (Brandee). He enjoys keeping up with technology, considers himself “AI-Curious”, enjoys cooking (mostly eating) and living an outdoor lifestyle.

Yvette is a Talent Acquisition professional with over 7 years of experience in strategic recruitment and talent initiatives across the U.S. and international markets. 🌎💼 She currently serves as a Talent Acquisition Partner at Any Hour Group, partnering with leaders to attract top talent and support business growth. 🤝

A proud Cal Poly Pomona alumna, Yvette holds an MBA and a B.S. in Management and Human Resources, with a minor in Spanish. 🐎💚

As Director & HR Liaison, Yvette is passionate about building meaningful connections, developing talent, and creating opportunities for others. 🌱🐴

Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering, traveling, spending time with family, and mentoring students. 🗺️✈️

Yvonne brings a diverse background in human resources, operations, finance, and district leadership. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton and an M.B.A. from Cal Poly Pomona. 🎓💚🐎

Throughout her career, Yvonne has served as a Human Resources Manager, Operations Manager, District Manager, Financial Consultant, and Account Executive. Her experience in leadership, talent development, operations, and client relations brings a well-rounded perspective to her work. 💼

In her role as Director of Alumni Engagement, Yvonne looks forward to building connections and strengthening relationships across our alumni community. 🤝

Outside of work and her board commitments, she enjoys running and fitness, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. 🏃‍♀️✈️

Continuing with Director at Large, played in a key role in past academic years in growing the annual Holiday Toy Drive! Here is her introduction:
Rocio graduated from Collins College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and a minor in Marketing. During her time, she was involved in Associated Students Incorporated (ASI), Collins Hospitality Management Council and Greek Life.
She currently serves as a Banquet Manager and just hit her 4 year anniversary with Marriott! She has her Introductory Sommelier Certification and has a passion for expanding her knowledge.
She looks forward to creating exceptional experiences for our alumni and giving back to the College that has shaped her career and life.

Onto his third year being Director at Large for Collins Alumni Society. Let him introduce his himself once again. “Hello, I’m Erick and graduated from Collins College in 2014. While attending Collins I worked for various places as a chef. I went into sales with Southern Glazers in 2015. Currently I work as a DSD Sales Representative. My free time is spent with my wife Lalis and son EJ. We just finished out first t-ball season. It was quite an experience being an assistant coach. You can find out on our spare time at the park playing ball.”

Yesterday, we joined the @cppalumni association for the Get Career Ready event, bringing students and alumni together for career conversations, advice, and networking.

We were so proud to have DJ Norman, one of our Business Alumni Chapter Board Members, as a keynote speaker, and Megan Shadrick representing our @cbacpp chapter on the “What I Wish I Knew — New Grad Panel.” 📣

Meet Natalie Brizuela-MacLean — our Director, Liaison to Finance, Real Estate & Law! 💼🚀

Natalie, MSGC, CFCM, is the Manager of the Task Order Management and Pricing Section at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where she supports the Laboratory’s acquisition and contracting efforts. 🛰️

With a career spanning JPL, USRA, and Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Natalie brings years of experience in contracts, grants management, leadership, and organizational development. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻✨

A proud first-generation college graduate and Cal Poly Pomona alumna, Natalie is passionate about mentorship and creating opportunities for students and emerging professionals. 🎓🐎 She continues to give back through board service with Cal Poly Pomona, Just Us 4 Youth, and NCMA.

Meet Lorena Ornelas-Estrada — your Immediate Past President 💚🐴💛

Lorena graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Human Resources (MHR) and Spanish. At the end of her 2nd year, she started working at JPL under a year-round student program and was hired full-time after graduation as a Business Administrator supporting the Mechanical Fabrication and Environmental Testing Section. Having supported several JPL missions throughout her 18-year career, she is now a Contracts Manager in the Task Order Management and Pricing Section handling contracts with NASA, Defense, Commercial and Civil partners. Lorena has been a CBA Board member for the last 7 years and enjoys sharing her experience and knowledge to help students succeed. 🚀🎓
