I think we make choosing colour far harder than it needs to be.

Look at a watermelon.

The pink, the green, that tiny touch of cream…

You don’t need to work out why those colours go together.

You just know they do.

That’s what I’m interested in.

Not rules.
Not colour wheels.
Not trying to make colours “go”.

Learning inset to trust what your eye already knows.

Save this for the next time you’re stuck choosing colours for your home.

Gytha xx

P.S. My watermelon clearly didn’t get the memo about the black seeds.🍉

Crafted Films are looking for extras for a short, narrative-style film (2.5 minutes) for an IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) information hub, aimed at physicians and patient organisations. The film will be shown at medical congresses and hosted on a password-protected hub - it’s not a commercial or broadcast production.

The story follows a pianist preparing for a performance. Through his rehearsal journey, the film symbolically explores the challenges and breakthroughs of living with IBD and the promise of precision medicine. The performance will be expressive and emotional, with a cinematic tone.

The extras will simply play a theatre audience - all that’s required is to sit in a theatre for around an hour.

Shoot date: Wednesday 3rd September 2025
Time: TBC
Duration: ~1 hour
Location: Stag Theatre
Remuneration: £20
All participants will need to sign a model release form confirming they’re happy to appear in the video.

If interested, please contact Iris Gibson at email address below.

[MANIFESTACIONES INTERNACIONALES]

We are outraged when animal abuse happens in faraway places (see the last post about Viet Nam), but dark pockets of cruelty exist in Europe, too.

Take Spain: at the end of the hunting season (February 1), between 60,000 and 100,000 galgos are discarded in the most cruel, barbaric ways. The Spanish hunting dog remains exempt from animal protection laws in Spain, despite extensive lobbying by the country’s dog-loving majority. But some 40,000 people still hold hunting licenses, and in a hangover from hunt enthusiast Franco, their lobby is still powerful.

Can you imagine the outrage if 100,000 healthy dogs were thrown off mountains or hung from trees in the UK?

What can you do?
✊Protest. Each year, marches to #freethegalgo and #endthehunt are held around the world.
🗣️Spread the word. Very few people know about the plight of the galgo. Some might even holiday in hunting regions, unwittingly supporting the barbarians.
💕Adopt. Galgos – and their smaller cousins, the podencos – make amazing pets. While they were bred for long-distance running at great speed, galgos are gentle, playful and intelligent.

@crafted_films made this short documentary that explains the situation brilliantly. Share this to galvanise support for the upcoming protest marches. Millions of Spaniards are against this barbarism, so let’s amplify their voices around the world and get the galgos protected like all other dogs.

To read more about it, check out issue 8 of Wunderdog (featuring @hopeforpodencos on the cover) and issue 3 (with an interview with @yogalgo filmmaker Yeray Lopez).

One year ago today we released our first @historyhit film and we’ve made 10+ more since then! Oddly this still might be my favourite though. And a film about Germany’s memorial culture is still very much relevant a year on. #filmmakerslife #historyhit

9’s a good number of @historyhit documentaries to celebrate on Instagram - 9 fit neatly into a 3x3 grib (with our most watched film, The First Britons slap-bang in the middle when placed in order of release (L-R / top to bottom)) and then you can add 9 more pics for each of those films. These are the title-cards for all 9 of @crafted_films and I’s History Hit films - take a free month’s trial and enjoy them all! #history #historydocumentary #historyhit
