Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the We Stand with Esdrás fundraiser. A call went out and within 48 hours we were gathered together on 8/1 and chock full of donations. There are too many people to name and to tag, but please know that each and every one of you we see and appreciate and honor, whether it was donating an artwork or spending a dollar on a raffle ticket or writing a letter or...

It’s really humbling to be able to pass this amazing amount along in support of Esdrás, C4D @ct4adream , and those they are working to protect. What an absolute refutation of indifference. What an amazing community we live in, among such good souls and so many talented, generous artists. What a testimony to we take care of us.

These photos are just a few auction and raffle winners with their beautiful items; we couldn’t catch everyone and some are still picking up. We’ll make a point to tag in the comments below every creator account that made a donation. (If we miss you, apologies, and of course add yourselves!) Please follow them all, and consider them when you think about where to invest in the coming months and beyond…

Strength, courage and wisdom… one of the tracks in the chapter-opening playlists of Unearthing Joy by @gholdym and a perfect soundtrack for these beautiful snaps that didn’t all make it to our new newsletter out today. Many are from the We Stand with Esdrás fundraiser last Friday night (auction is still live!), and some are from the culminating concert of our Strings and Steel (and Books!) Summer Camp sweeties. All are testament to genius, justice and joy in action. When we started this story last week, we thought it would be about artists fundraising for Esdrás R., a Wilbur Cross High School student arrested and detained by ICE two weeks ago. By the time we finished it, it was a story about how creatives support each other and their wider community, often in ways they don't even fully know.

Thank you to Possible Futures and Crafters of Color New Haven for holding this art auction (bids are open through Friday!) and to WCHS Educator Kendall Alderman, director of the school's orchestra, for taking the time to paint a fuller portrait of the wonderful student Esdrás is.

The “We Stand with Esdrás” auction is live through Friday, August 8, and there is so much beautiful stuff to bid on - from a giant orca to beaded earrings and paintings and giftcards and manuscript consultations and tote bags and pillows and more! Pictured are just some of the amazing items donated by community members, and there is more online. We are so grateful to everyone who answered the call, made last night such a huge success, and is showing up online to bid on these beauties. We drew so many raffle winners today and we will be in touch tomorrow! In the meantime, the auction links are open, and we invite you to jump in with generosity! Special drop: leather lace charms for your boots and sneakers. They go especially well with combat boots… I’ll have these tonight at the fundraiser for Esdras, a New Haven high school student taken by ICE last week.
