A new portrait of me by my dear friend Jette Jørs - with one of my portraits of King Frederik X.

The past week has been overwhelming, but I stand by my work and I am very proud of it.

I believe a painting should hold something of the human being behind it — the time, the hand, the choices, the doubts, the intuition and the lived experience. It is never just about creating the perfect image.

Thank you all for the support, the conversations and the many different perspectives. It means a lot. ❤️

🌎 A new portrait of His Majesty The King for the Gallery of Monarchs at Frederiksborg 🖼️

The first official painted portrait of H.M. King Frederik X of Denmark since his accession to the throne is on its way. Created by Danish artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, the portrait will be unveiled on 25 September as part of the Carlsberg Foundation’s 150th anniversary celebrations in the Great Hall at Frederiksborg.

For centuries, Frederiksborg has been home to portraits of Danish royalty. Since the late 19th century, the Great Hall has been dedicated in particular to the descendants of Christian IX – known as the “Father-in-Law of Europe” – and the Glücksburg dynasty.
With her monumental portrait of Frederik X, Cathrine Raben Davidsen brings Denmark’s King into a historic European tradition of royal portraiture.

It is with great honour that I can now officially announce that I have been commissioned to paint His Majesty King Frederik X for Riddersalen at Frederiksborg Castle.

To be entrusted with creating a portrait of the King for one of Denmark’s most historic and significant spaces is a profound honour. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and for the confidence placed in me.

I look forward to presenting the completed portrait and to seeing it take its place at Frederiksborg Castle.
