Throwback Coachella warm-up w/ @sabrinacarpenter 💃🏾
Warming up before a show is a NONNEGOTIABLE.

My mat towel is my go-to when there’s no clean floors (aka most jobs). Portable/light, moisture-wicking, easy to clean → I can warm up anywhere and feel like my clothes will suffer.

I did some Pilates + some stretching to prep the body after walking through the choreography then changed and headed straight to stage.

Listen in for a few Coachella specific gems 💎 and tips for Artist Athletes looking to grow and add new tools to your belt 💕

Single leg elephant 🐘 prep to work towards arabesque demonstrated by @mrmarcusallan in the first clip and @rithielypereira in the second!

A lot of dancers are more focused on if it “looks” bendy rather than being CONTROLLED. But Marcus is showcasing a beautiful use of engagement in his glute and maintaining beautiful form throughout the exercise!

I have NEVER taught a rowdier yet curious group of individuals lol 😂 Beyond Pilates, what’s very special about this space is safely learning a new way to move your body, decreasing your risk of injury, and bettering your overall dance execution WITH other pre/pro movers while having a TON of fun💃🏾

True tea: I try not to be a class song vulture but I could not stop shimmying around to this track after @ysabellecaps & @rioshow__ class. I also have been trying to harness inspiration in a way that leads me deeper to my own artistry and not so much copying. ALSO, I can’t stop watching the videos of the Janet show living in my phone because it was magical. So this is my variation of what that energy feels like personified through movement and I would LOVE to see girls hitting something like this on stage or doing it myself.

It’s giving round two so we can finish out the ending breakdown! Thank you always to all of the students who came and the homies who helped me session it out 💚 this was a great welcome back after a 2.5 month break from teaching 🥹🙌🏾
