I’m tired. I’m tired of people telling us what we should and shouldn’t love. That we are stuck in something. That we don’t like Star Wars because of our gender. That we are too old for this or that thing. The fact is that we have found magic and joy through fandom. We have found community. Making friends as an adult is hard. It’s not easy. We have so much going on in our lives and there is so much going on in the world that having a safe space to express ourselves is needed. If we have found this little corner of the internet, of a book, a movie, a television show, whatever it may be, no one has the right to tell us how we should engage with it. My love of nerd culture hurts no one. In fact my love of nerd culture is healing, it fills my soul. It creates friendships and experiences. Just because someone doesn’t understand doesn’t mean they get to say how you choose to express yourself is wrong. “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”. I read everyday in February . I love documenting my new Reading Era in the Waiting for the Night reading journal by @conquestjournals. . Did I read a lot of books? I don’t think so. But Reading is not a competition It should be enjoyable and not feel like a chore. According to my @amazonkindle app as of today I’ve read 56 days in a row. I did finish A Court of Mist and Fury. Which wow all I can say is that it has taken the top spot for me. Above Order of the Phoenix (I know I was shocked too). I’ve loved Harry Potter for so long and really nothing (book wise) has ever brought me this much joy. I have been writing my reviews but I don’t share them because I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. . No Lie! . I had an extremely hard time reading book 1. It felt slow and boring to me. I am not a fast reader by any means but I can truthfully say that it truly picked up at the end and now that I am about 70% done with A Court of Mist and Fury (Book 2) I can honestly say to anyone struggling with the first book push through cause book 2 is amazing!!!! I don’t know how it ends just yet… but wow!!! I could honestly see myself rereading this one!
