Delighted to spend my day at the Whidbey Garden Workshop. I am teaching two sessions - Pollinator-Friendly Garden Care (one in a 3-part panel) and EcoGardening. This is a wonderful, quality workshop that happens yearly in March. If you’ve never been and you’re a Washington gardener - mark your calendars for next year!

Fun photo capturing @creativegardener Sue Goetz and myself preparing for last Thursday’s APLDWA mini- symposium with UK designer @guilfoyleannie. All hands pitching in to make it happen. #thepointhotel#iamapld#gardendesigners #fallforaging #designers#apld

Thanks to Camille Paulsen for sending these photos from the South Sound NHS day tour. Designer and gardener Sue Goetz led the tour which visited several private gardens in Puyallup with lunch at Watson’s Nursery. The day finished off in the recently renovated W. W. Seymour conservatory in Tacoma. Look out for day tours like this in the future by joining NHS as a member or checking the website linked in our bio. 🌸 📸 @tahomaflora @creativegardener

Garden designer and author Sue Goetz hosted a Northwest Horticultural Society South Sound garden tour yesterday, starting in my garden and ending at the newly renovated W.W. Seymour Conservatory. Along the way, we toured the garden of Erica and Aaron Richards (and took a peek at a couple of neighboring gardens) before having lunch at Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery. We ended the day with a tour of the Victorian-style Seymour Conservatory, a jewel in the heart of Tacoma.

A big thanks to all for a fantastic day in the gardens! @creativegardener @nwhortsociety @erica_sage @fleetwoodmayuree @watsonsgreenhouse and Tyra @wwseymour

And the post-workshop after party! I was honored to show many of the GardenComm organizers and attendees, including presenters @gardenercook and @fashion_plants , around my garden. Relaxing in the shade pavilion with a cocktail was the perfect way to unwind after a fun day at Old Goat Farm.

It’s Sue again to share the page with an APLDWA #instagramtakeover

Coming to you from the heart of Provence:

The main reason I traveled to France this time of year was to be here during lavender season. The #herbnerd in me was not disappointed -
Now really- who else gets excited to find wild lavender growing in the rocky foothills of Mont Ventoux .

Plus, an Interesting look into the world of lavender farming- it’s not just about gorgeous acres of purple haze.
We were able to see farming and harvesting techniques - plus a farm distilling organic plant oils with a behind the scenes look at a harvested truckload of cut lavender being prepared for steaming to extract the prized essential oils.
What happens to all those stems once all the oil is extracted?

Lavender stem mulch anyone?

Thanks for joining me during my instagram takeover!
