POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Back to school… kind of.

Day one of Re:Create GrowthCamp at Somerset House—stepping away from the day-to-day to think properly about where I want to take Lucky Evi next.

Met loads of nice people, learnt loads and can’t wait to start working with my music-industry mentor.

Now to put it all into action—once my hand has recovered.

And yes, Batman is definitely the better superhero. 🦇

🧵 Looking for something creative to do in Renfrewshire on Saturdayʼs?

Come and try Imperfect Stitch at Johnstone Textile Space. ❤️ Different stitch to try every week. 🧵

Today we’re making Textile Talismans — small, personal pieces created from vintage and reclaimed cloth, hand stitch, red thread, buttons, beads and charms.

This creative enquiry began during my time at Glasgow School of Art and continued at the Royal College of Art, and now continues through my evolving Body of Work textile practice.

Drawing on ideas from Roland Barthes and Marcel Proust, we’ll explore how cloth and objects can hold memory, emotion and meaning — how a colour, texture or familiar piece of fabric can unexpectedly connect us to a person, place or moment.

✨ Never stitched before? Perfect.
You don’t need to be artistic or experienced.

Imperfect Stitch is about taking two hours for yourself, meeting new people, learning something new and enjoying making without worrying about getting it “right”.

🪡 All materials & tuition included
☕ Tea, coffee & biscuits
💕 Friendly, relaxed & no pressure
🌱 Complete beginners welcome
📍 Johnstone Textile Space
🕥 Saturdays 10.30am–12.30pm.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all our member organisations, guest speakers, artists, note takers and colleagues who joined us yesterday and took part in important conversations about how we can foster sustainable creative practice and livelihoods in London in collaboration with CVAN London and Creative United. The generosity, openness, and insight shared throughout the day made for a thoughtful and energising exchange, highlighting the importance of collaboration, learning, and collective support across the sector.

We started the day with our Creative Learning Hub group discussions and in person artists networking, exploring sustaining creative practice, income and value, learning and professional development, and the importance of collaboration and networks. The conversations were incredibly valuable, with artists generously sharing their experiences, perspectives, and ideas throughout the sessions.

Special thanks to Mary-Alice Stack CEO of Creative United, for sharing practical resources and expertise around business development and mentoring opportunities for CVAN London artists.

The afternoon continued with a wider conversation on artists’ livelihoods alongside CVAN London member organisations, where Mary-Alice Stack introduced the @own.art Scheme and a special CVAN London member offer.

These discussions were supported by brilliant guest facilitators who led thoughtful and engaging sessions: Alice Mayor on moving from artist practitioner to artist enterprise, Sophie Hill, Bow Arts, exploring relationships between galleries and artists, and Will Jarvis, Gertrude, leading conversations on sales and sustainability in a changing arts market.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their perspectives and helped shape such an open and energising exchange.

A special thank you also goes to all colleagues working behind the scenes whose efforts made this collaborative event such a success.

🎶 Step inside one of the UK’s most iconic music shops 🎺

From its beginnings in 1966, founded by Jack Dawkes, the grandfather of current owners Jon and David, Dawkes has grown into a hub for brass and woodwind players. After his military service affected his hearing, Jack turned to the art of instrument repair, laying the foundation for a lasting legacy of craftsmanship, expertise, and community.

Today, Dawkes supports musicians at every stage, selling, teaching, and repairing everything from student clarinets to professional tubas. At the heart of it all is The Workshop, an integral part of the Dawkes experience. Customers don’t just drop off their instruments, they get to see the care and skill that goes into every repair.

As proud Take it away member retailer, Dawkes continue to make music more accessible to all 🎵

2026 is set to be a big year… To mark their 60th anniversary, Dawkes is hosting an incredible programme of 60 events, from masterclasses to live performances. Here’s to six decades of music, and many more to come 🎈
