On September 3rd, 2025 my dad went home to to be with Jesus. 🤍 My dad is a strong man of God and fought the good fight of faith. Though my dad’s time on earth has come to an end sooner than I would’ve liked — his unconditional love, servitude, and legacy lives on through me and my siblings.🤍🤍

My dad lived a quiet life. A life marked by simplicity and humility. He took care of his business and worked diligently with his hands using his skills to serve God and others. 🫶

My father instilled in me what it means to truly be a disciplined and well regimented man. Every morning he would wake up way too early to workout in his gym at home. His prayers went up, dumbbells slammed on the floor, and worship music flooded our home. My dad is a mechanic and would work on cars very early in the morning. He is a very hardworking man and there was always multiple cars he was working on and projects going on around the house. 🏠

My dad supported all of the dreams I had. One of those being @jjsbakerycafe 👨🏾‍🍳— he helped pay for me to attend baking classes and is the reason that my business is where it is today.

My dad showed up for all of the important things — the graduations, sports events, bakery events, birthday parties and the list goes on. He was always there for me and was a present dad. I knew I could depend on him for anything and everything. He was such a gift to me. 🤍

Thank you dad for showing me what true strength, grace, and dignity looks like — I’ll do my best to carry on your legacy here on earth until we meet again. But until that day I’ll honor you in my heart and in everything that I do. I will never be able to repay everything that you’ve done for me but I will strive in every way to live a life fashioned after your example.

Blog: “Why do I Program MedBalls, Loaded and Unloaded Sprints/Jumps for my Athletes Instead of Olympic Lifts”

When programming for my athletes, I try to stay away from Olympic movements, such as power cleans, cleans, snatches, and push to jerks.

Olympic lifts are great, and the benefits from such a complex movement are amazing. Favorably, there are different ways to get those same benefits in a less taxing and injury prone way. With numerous reasonings behind this concept I wanted to share a few tips below that strongly backup my OPINION.

Triple Extension – Olympic lifts (clean and jerk or snatch) and jumping both involve triple extension of the ankles, knees, and hips, which is crucial for generating upward propulsion.

Ground Reaction Force – in both movements, force is applied against the ground to generate upward movement. Olympic lifters push against the platform just as jumpers push off the ground to achieve height.

Explosive Power – Both movements require rapid force production and engaging fast-twitch muscle fibers to generate maximal power in a short period.

Again Olympic lifts are excellent, but with the technicality of each movement and the high risk of injury; when dealing with athletes that’s just not something that correlates. So again, that is why I prefer loaded and unloaded jumps/sprints!
You will notice in the clips above that they are all the same movement patterns: worked at different rates, different loads, and different angles.

ACCELERATION DAY
(Read Blog)

Mondays are usually acceleration day for our Athletes, when in our acceleration phase during sprints here are some key concepts I like to address with our athletes :

1. Understanding and Applying Force Effectively in Acceleration
2. Appropriate angles to deliver force in the most efficient and effective manner.
3. Ground contact time // Heel Recovery

With some of these drills that I posted above from athletes of all age groups, you will see these key concepts worked upon as we develop into progressions over our workout of maximizing our best Accels.

Clients of the Week…

Kate has been here working at Coachman for close to a year now it’s been a long journey, but the last 4 to 5 months have been major improvement. She has gained 3 pounds of muscle and lost 4% body fat, while maintaining same weight and gain. Her life transformation and body composition has been unreal and her cardiovascular system is at its peak.

Chris has been here for a little under a year now. He has PR’ed all of his lifts above 30+ pounds while maintaining gaining muscle mass and losing body fat. He is always around at the facility and has great energy!

Jake has been here with me for under a year now it’s been a rough journey for Jake. The first six months were a journey, but the last month and a half I have seen a whole totally different person. Jake is a defense alignment at Vis center looking to play college football and right now he is exceeding that level with his performance! I am excited for Jake’s future.

@crispy_caleb came in to to me around September interested in training and came in with things that he wanted to work on and get better at. It has been quite a journey and this dude has been crushing it. Our biggest challenge has been our patterns with certain compound lifts. Here in first video in October Chris had hit a 1RM and strength was there, depth wasn’t as much as we needed. After A.P.E 2.0 and a big Deload week. We hit big numbers on our back squat! Way to go my man!
