Happy birthday to the young 🐐 @cristian_alexus . Along with carrying the tradition of helping keep the Las Vegas music alive through years of dedication and hard work, he is also a killer songwriter and audio engineer. CRYPTID EP IS OUT NOW!!! 🏴‍☠️

First and foremost, thank you to my bandmates. Without them, these songs wouldn’t be anything. Thank you for your endless patience and unwavering belief.

Love y’all now and forever.

I wrote these 4 songs during a very uncertain time in my life. Truth be told, I was at an all-time low. But seeing your reaction to these songs live reignited my determination and rebuilt my confidence.

I am endlessly grateful for your love and support. I feel very lucky to have received it during a time when I needed it the most.

I spent a torturous amount of time on these songs. I learned many things throughout this experience, but the most important one is:

PERFECTION KILLS PROGRESSION.

Personally, I’m done chasing something that I’m not.

I have, and will always be, a kid that plays guitar and writes songs.

MOVING FORWARD, THAT IS THE ETHOS THIS BAND WILL REFLECT.

If you’ve got a few minutes, go listen to CRYPTID from front to back. I hope these songs mean something to you the way they mean something to me.

SATURDAY WAS LIT! Our first time at @bizarrebarlv was a success! Thank you to Tim and the team at Bizarre Bar for treating us well. We are looking forward to our next time here ✨

thank you to everyone that attended and supported this show. In less than 2 weeks we sold almost 200 tickets. We appreciate and love the fuck out of y’all vegas! 🫶

@60juno played an absolutely killer set. We are wishing them lots of luck and safe travels on their upcoming world tour! Which they deserve cause they are the truth 😤

@beach_cowboys made the drive from El Paso and we loved every second of their set! Big things coming for this young taltented band! 🤘🏽

Our friends in @franciaband and @thesands702 represented the vegas talent extremely well. Reminding all of us that real talent and skill resides right here! In our beautiful little big city of las vegas! 💪🏽

This is long overdue! I have been getting lots of love from everywhere for the work that I do as La Palma. I would like to personally re direct some of that love to my team of people. Some have been with me for a few weeks others have been with me for years. Some have moved on and started their own things but no matter what. Once you are part of the team you will always be La Palma! 🌴

My mans deserves a whole ahh post to himself. Easily the hardest working guy the day of our events. He is the first to show up and the last to leave. He has been the heartbeat of what we do. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a good sound guy. But to call him a just sound guy is super reductive. Jonathan is amazingly talented, kind, and honest. One second he’s doing levels for the instruments then the next he’s on stage killing it with DI boys, Red Sea, or chavos. As much as I enjoy his sound work, I believe he belongs on stage!

I hear nothing but good things about him from all the bands we work with. I honestly do not want anyone else doing sound for me, if you see another sound guy it’s cause the venue has their own “person” but I promise you Jonathan is better. No disrespect to anyone else.

Fr dude Proud of how much you’ve grown in such a short amount of time! Thank you for everything that you do for not only me but all the other organizers you work with as well. 🫶

This is my video guy Cesar! He has been shooting my shows for almost two years now! We have so much footage in the vault. You might recognize his footage in the ads that I create for La Palma. Cesar is such a kind and sincere person. I love that once he has a shot in mind he can’t move on it till he gets it! He is an aspiring documentarian/filmmaker. He has plenty of good ideas and is developing the skills to achieve them. There is no doubt in my mind that with his work ethic he will get very far and we are very lucky to have his work be part of our identity.

Fun fact: Cesar is the first person from UNLV that I invited to come to my shows and now he goes to almost all of them 🙏

From hosting house shows in his Eastside backyard to filling local venues with noise, sweat and possibility, Cristian Alexus Alfaro has spent years building spaces where live music thrives. The frontman of local Chicano indie-surf outfit Los Emptys and the founder of booking collective La Palma approaches every gig with the same intention: Give people a place to play, connect and lose themselves in the sound. Animals, This Town Needs Guns (TTNG):

“I started playing guitar when I was 15 years old, and I always got really into these unique styles of guitar. Whenever I saw someone play the guitar upside down, left-handed, or just finger-tapping, I was so intrigued. It’s unlike anything you really hear, kind of orchestral chaos but still organized. I feel like a lot of technical artists tend to lose the essence of the songs ... Animals influenced me to open up my creativity.”

Chinese Fountain, The Growlers:

“This next album right here is definitely post-high school, fresh from graduating and opening my eyes up to the world and joining the workforce. This was my first foray into the Chicano surf-punk SoCal scene, and their style obviously has a lot of influence on what Los Emptys does and what we strive for. We assign a lot of our music to memories and people we spend them with, and it’s just one of those albums.”

Everything Is Wonderful & Everyone’s Happy, Mickey Darling:

“I’m really for earworm-type melodies and catchy, super sweet guitar riffs. This album particularly inspires me to be more honest with my lyricism. I used to be afraid to be vulnerable, but listening to things like this makes you want to really talk your sh— and not be afraid to express yourself.”

I’m very proud to say that I am the last sound engineer to do sound at @habibisvegas

This place was literally the hardest place to do sound for, which eventually became the most easiest to do.

this place helped me grow as an engineer and for my little business and helped me build relationships with communities from all over Las Vegas

I was happy I was able to be free and do what I thought was best for shows. Staff there was always the best and respectful towards me so thank you Jose for that!

Thank you to all the promoters and bands who have worked with me and you have no idea how much I really do appreciate the opportunities working here.
