Memorable night, bringing the first run of @iiffestival to a close with the UK premiere of @baghdadinmyshadow - supported by the Swiss Embassy.

Thank you @samirriadhjamalaldin @shervinalenabi @_waseemabbas for the talk and good laughs!

None of this would have been made possible without the efforts of my IIFF family - @roisintapponi @ahmedhabib79 @israaalkamali and the support of everyone who had tuned in over the past week.

The @iiffestival will be back next year!

After a long period of isolation, Antonin, who suffers from chronic exhaustion, begins working at a bird rescue centre on Lake Geneva. Taking up an apprenticeship under the tutelage of a retiring supervisor, this young man gradually begins to reconnect with the world through the animals he cares for. The intimate and beautiful photography frames life inside the sanctuary like a nature diorama, with Antonin’s spare narration reflecting on days filled equally with routine tasks and small wonders. As he finds his way back into life, a world is revealed in which both injured birds and damaged souls can be healed.

Catch the UK Premiere of #BirdIsland + Q&A at #OpenCityDocs - read an essay on the film, commissioned for our printed programme, & book your tickets on our website now.

A member of staff received this from the Swiss Embassy today. It contains a list of activities to do at home, poems, and exercises which can help calm your mind. What a nice gesture! We hope some of you may find this useful too🙂
