New chapter. Not starting from zero.

A little look at life after sport: school drop-off, a workout with @defyneyyc_ , then three sessions with the High Performance Athlete Development classes at @bownesshighschoolcbe .

The lessons from the track come with me. Now I get to put them to work in different rooms.

Thank you @csialberta / @gameplancanada for these types of opportunities and @amyvanbuscar for capturing the day.

@hpadbowness_cbe crew, if you’ve joined me here since our sessions.. welcome 👋🏾

🏃🏾‍♂️Athletes: what’s one lesson from sport you’re taking into your next chapter?

A little update on what’s next.

After 8 seasons with the Canadian National Team, 10 World Cup Top-10 results, an ACL injury, surgery, and a long road back to racing, I spent this summer figuring out what the next chapter of my career was going to look like.

The good news is, I’m not done.

I’ve put together a plan that will allow me to continue training and competing this season, with camps at Sun Peaks, BC and in the Yukon before heading to Europe for the Cross Alps World Cup races in December.

The biggest challenge is funding the costs that come with making those opportunities possible. Between training, accommodation, flights, lift tickets, food, and competition expenses, it adds up quickly.

So, for the first time in my career, I’m asking for some help.

I’ve built a website that shares more of my story, what this season looks like, and how anyone who wants to support the journey can help.

Whether it’s a donation, sharing the page, connecting me with a business, or simply following along, it all makes a difference.

I’ve put a lot into getting back to this point, and I’m excited to keep pushing forward and see what I can do this season.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.

Time to get back in the gate. 🇨🇦

Part 1 of my chat with Cesar for a few real questions. Between training for bobsleigh, he just started his masters and is getting his nonprofit back off the ground, on top of everything else. He shares about what that balance actually looks like and shares where his head's at with the Reset Series we're building together.

🏒@emersonjarvis preparing for her rookie season with @pwhl_torrent 🌊

Shown are clips from a multidirectional speed + lower body strength session.
Our change of direction work typically progresses from isolated skills to more representative drills / combinations. And usually includes variations of lateral decelerations, crossovers/lateral runs, and shuffles.
This session - after movement prep, rudiments and skips we did:

* Banded crossover decel
* Continuous crossover/lateral run
* Double crossover → accel
* Backpedal → crossover → forward accel
* 5-10-5 races

And complimented with a good dose of single leg strength and hip strength work.

Yes, we love food. Don't get that twisted lol. But To Feed a Bobsledder was never just about the food. It's about showing you what athletes are actually like outside the sport. The journey, the ups and downs that isn’t always talked about. Everyone sees the highlight reel and thinks "that's so cool," but there's a whole behind the scenes that goes into it. That's what we're building with the Reset Series, and we can't wait to show you more.
