Come by the Ottawa Trans Library this September for our first group art show 🖼️ All are welcome to join the vernissage on September 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, snacks are provided! This exhibition features Alina Bee, Aleks Gold, Imogen Reid, Casper Slack, and Kieran Vogt:

Aline Bee (she/her) is a visual artist, poet, and transfemme sapphic disaster. Her past lives were lived in New Zealand and Finland, and she now makes her home in so-called Ottawa.

Her recent work is about bereavement, longing, and self-love. In them she moves through grief for her past into the fierce joy of her present moment.

Aleks Gold is a freelance artist and illustrator based in Ottawa, Ontario.

His work is best known for its interlacing of nature, folklore, and fantasy in the exploration of deep
wounds, growth and healing, and the haunting perseverance of the soul beyond death; an epitaph for
the wild, beautiful, and rotten. His art asks the viewer for a willingness to seek comfort and connection
within the macabre and unsightly parts of us; to recognize decay, loss, and grief as common threads that
bind us all.

Aleks primarily works in digital and graphite. He often experiments with other
mediums such as linocut, acrylic, and watercolour. His creative sights are currently set on adding
embroidery, sculpture, and woodburning into his portfolio.

Imogen Reid is a hard femme trans dyke multimedia, multidisciplinary artist and author who uses art as a tool of survival and as a means to find a voice and dignity in a world that strives to rob her of both these things.

Casper Slack is an independent artist and designer living and working in Treaty 13 territory (Toronto). A designer, illustrator, and animator with over 10 years of experience with both in-house and freelance work across the spectrum of marketing, product design, branding, and film.

Thank you to everyone that showed up and allowed me to talk their ears off. I love seeing new faces and reuniting with old ones. Can't wait to see what the future holds.

Spaces We Leave Behind | Featured Works Album III

Yolanda Ren, A Change Is Purposed for This Site, 2026. Site-Specific Photo installation.

164 Isabella St. is an old Victorian-style building proposed for redevelopment into a new high-rise condo. It is a house full of stories, where ghosts still wander the hallways, and you are standing inside it. A tower may rise here one day, just as workers laid its bricks and tiles one or two hundred years ago; either way, it is the same earth beneath. This land is stitched together by such rises and falls, with ground connected to ground, parcelled out by colonizers, then woven into communities, homes, fragments of story.

The government has decided these stories are due for renewal. I received a letter, and as a temporary passing presence, I caught a glimpse of this slice of history. I post these notices on the refrigerator — the place that updates the most up-to-date version of my life, where I use receipts to commemorate and document them.

Stephanie Camille, A Fruit for Missing Home, 2026. Oil on paper, mounted on wood.

This painting was made as a gift for my girlfriend while she was deeply homesick for Palestine. Centered around figs, the work became a way of expressing love and care through distance, while holding onto the emotional connection and pride she feels for her homeland. Originally created to produce fundraiser prints supporting Palestinian aid efforts, the painting reflects the way food can carry memory and connection across distance.

Casper Slack, I’m Being Totally Normal About This, 2023. Digital drawing.

I’m Being Totally Normal About This is a love letter to the physical space that held me, even in the hardest moments. The kitchen counter, the sink, the window I could stare out of while my brain tried to make sense of itself. This piece brings the space in my brain and the physical space together—in a weirdness that we can be totally normal about (or not).

AnimaeNoctis, Brain Drain, 2026. Single-channel video (performance documentation).

We were born and raised in Italy. We left Italy. We convey this idea: borders are both established in our bodies and very evanescent. Our performance contains no

We held a group exhibition at home!

Thank you @missng.ideas for encouraging this idea to take root (and for all the help throughout the process). Thanks to @jingweizh1248, who came in with nails and hammers and helped get everything up on the walls. Thanks to @biiiinx @omers__art @starsketch.rk @myself @jingweizh1248 @missng.ideas @fruumpies who brought food and drinks for us to share when the show opened, and thanks to everyone who made their way to 164 Isabella St. to see this exhibition — so I could dip my hand into this new idea called “curating” and receive so much encouragement and love throughout the process ✨

And most importantly, thank you to all the artists who were so incredibly kind and supportive throughout. I love every piece, and I can’t wait to see where your art journeys take you!
