Sad to hear the passing of @jenniferfinch of @l7theband today. I shot the band on October 3rd, 2025 at the Belasco in DTLA. From what I’ve seen, this was the last show Jennifer played with the band. More recently my friend @tsuzumiokaibass subbed in for Jennifer on a recent run of shows because of her ailing health. Today marks the twentieth anniversary of the US release of CSS's unbeatable debut on @subpop. It was released initially a year earlier in their native Brazil and a year later in the UK but as I own this Sub Pop reissue we're going for today for its anniversary post.

I initially got hold of a copy whilst working as a buyer for HMV and was instantly hooked by their infectious electro indie which walks the tightrope between cutesy joke and serious songwriting with perfect balance; what at first feels like novelty quickly demands reappraisal as the song's exquisite catchiness takes hold and becomes essential.

My CD copy was hammered to death and it's taken me several years to finally get hold of a vinyl copy which I did in 2023 with this limited edition Sub Pop / Rough Trade collab, limited to 500 copies on eye watering pink vinyl.

And yes, I'm tired of being sexy too 😉
