25 years later, we will never forget the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

We remember all those who lost their lives on 9/11, and we will continue to climb in their honor 🇺🇸

Thank you to all who came out to this years 9/11 stair climb. We hope to see you again next year.

At yesterday’s Military Appreciation Day football game against Wyoming, we honored retired U.S. Army Gen. James H. Dickinson, a proud Ram since 1985, with the CSU Founders Day Medal! 🏅🇺🇸

The Founders Day Medal is one of CSU’s highest distinctions, and recognizes an individual, family or group whose service and contributions have created a significant, lasting impact on the University’s history and progress toward future goals.

As a mechanical engineering graduate and a member of the Rams baseball team, Gen. Dickinson was commissioned as a second lieutenant in Air Defense Artillery through Army ROTC right here on campus. Across 39 years of service, he commanded at every level of the U.S. Army, retiring in 2024 as a four-star general and the senior air and missile defense officer in the Department of Defense. His final assignment was commander of U.S. Space Command, responsible for defending U.S. and allied interests in space.

Among his decorations are the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal, and he holds master’s degrees from the Colorado School of Mines and the U.S. Army War College. @ColoradoStateAlumni also honored him with the William E. Morgan Alumni Achievement Award in 2022.

And he keeps coming back to CSU. For decades, Gen. Dickinson has led ROTC cadets by example to serve with honor and to strive for excellence. On campus, he has spoken at the CSU Veterans Symposium, at a joint Army and Air Force ROTC commissioning and at commencement for the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering and the College of Business. He’s an avid Rams fan, so you can often find him at Canvas Stadium rooting for our football team — and yesterday, on cannon duty, firing Comatose to open the season.

Gen. Dickinson reflects the very best of CSU and we’re so proud to call him a Ram!

Congratulations, General, and Go Rams!

Learn more in @CSUAmyParsons’ bio link. President Amy Parsons claps and smiles beside retired U.S. Army Gen. James H. Dickinson, who raises his green cap in one hand while holding a framed medal in the other. A young child in a Colorado State jersey and striped overalls waves nearby. Cheerleaders and a marching band perform on the field behind them, with a full stadium in the background
