Spent the last couple years in the Warner Brothers Television Directing Program. Learned a ton, but the real takeaway is the people. The instructors, the execs who cared, and the Wild Bunch of incredibly talented directors who are solid hangs and just really good humans. Thank you @wbdaccess for investing in us. Feels like the end of something and the start of something else. Appreciate the ride. ✌️

Recently! The SCL Oscars party with @dianewarren, world premiere with the Massachusetts Symphony at Tuckerman Hall, original score recording session with @shilstone_arts at @swandivesound, Philly, my studio at @southmusic, Christina, and Dude under the Steinway. At every turn I’ve been finding myself more and more appreciative of all the new connections, friendships, and collaborative energies being put together toward some goal. Every one of these collaborations, from the massive project of the orchestral commission, to the intimate 5 piece jazz quintet we put together for Robbie Shilstone’s wonderful film (that I can’t wait for everyone to see), relied on the whole group coming together and everyone playing their unique role. A special shout out to Robbie and his broad directorial vision…@alanshampton @imkylepoole @julienknowles, Devin Daniels for bringing the music to LIFE, and @alanpchang and @tylerygraham at @swandivesound for hosting us and capturing the sounds! There’s such beauty in the process of trusting each other and I couldn’t be more excited about this new music, in conversation with creative artists like @shilstone_arts and the players of the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra.

Complex Youth by South Korean Women Directors / Juventudes complejas, por directoras surcoreanas 👧🏻 🎥🇰🇷 — Hay algo que siempre me ha fascinado y es el tacto y precisión de las directoras surcoreanas para retratar la juventud en sus películas, ya sea a temprana edad, con la infancia, como etapas intermedias con la adolescencia y adultez en su primeros años. Por un lado, está el tipo de películas suaves y llenas de colores pasteles como, por ej. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝘀, 𝗔 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀, que dan una vibra muy acogedora y pacífica pero, sin olvidar lo complejo de crecer y tener que enfrentarse, en muchos casos, a vivir dentro de familias disfuncionales y/o contextos sociales conflictivos. Por el otro, está el tipo de película más punzante, melancólica y desesperanzadora como, por ej. Meet the Jurors: Frank Yan 💿 Frank Yan is the Director of Programming at the CineCina Film Festival. He's also the co-founder of the boutique distribution company Crescendo House, as well as the China-based soundtrack record label, Soundtrack Magazine. Marissa Carpio 🌟Marissa Carpio is an NYC-based actor, writer and producer from Chicago. Onscreen credits: HOCUS POCUS 2, THE SLEEPOVER, "KRAFTY KID" with Ryan Reynolds, FBI, DON'T LOOK UP. Producing credits: the English-language World Premiere of Yukio Mishima’s play THE LIGHTHOUSE (Provincetown, MA), named in 'Best Stage Productions of 2019' by ArtsFuse Magazine. Marissa's film projects have screened at festivals nationwide. She currently serves on SAG-AFTRA's APAM Committee and is a member of the WGA East Indie Film Caucus. Christina Yoon 🌙 Christina Yoon is an award-winning Korean American writer and director based in Los Angeles, often focused on dramatic films that explore trauma, alienation, and identity. As a TV writer, she has written for the Critics Choice Award-winning Pachinko on Apple TV+. Yoon won Best Director at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival and Best Narrative Short at the Provincetown International Film Festival for her short film, MOTHERLAND, which became eligible for the 2024 Academy Awards.
