Find us in LEADS ZINE! Leads is run by Ruby and Lily, two people who care, have passion & make zines because of it! They kindly allowed us some space in this month’s issue of Leads - which was focussed on growth - to ramble on about Cuairt and our journey getting there. We are honoured to have been part of such a beautifully constructed zine and to share the pages with some incredible voices and artists… including @charlottes_botanical_art (!!!) Go get yourself a copy or you’ll be SORELY missing out! Thanks so much once again @leadszine 💚

SOME KIND OF MAD OL' PIZZA TWIST BREAD THING. Just a test bake, bit more of an effort to make so not sure when it'll be on the menu- maybe this weekend. @iamnutok's gorgeous vegan mozzarella braided thru some bread with @cuairtcrops super fresh, locally grown organic tomatoes. Once it was out the oven it got a hefty drizzle of @honest_toil olive oil and a big shake of @tubbytoms pizza dust and fresh basil (also from @cuairtcrops). Don't be getting all wound up and stressed about vegan cheese- it's, like, 5 totally natural ingredients and it melts beautifully and it tastes incredible. Would people prefer this sold as one big thing or sold in wedges to eat on the go? . . . #sourdough #sourdoughbread #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbaking #bread #realbread #cinnamonrolls #cinnamonbuns #bakersofinstagram #pizza #breadmaking #Aberdeen #vegan #veganbaking #food #foodpics #foodie #foodporn #artisanbread #cafe #baker #BanditBakery #Aberdream #Aberdeenfood #Aberdeenscotland #seeninthedeen #smallbusiness #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #foodphotography

FRIDAY We are open 10-17 today It’s the last day of term again — and it looks like we’re in luck with the weather! 🍂 @cuairtcrops are bringing in more of their beautiful local veggies, all grown without pesticides and with care for the land. The colours of autumn are definitely showing in the crates this week! Fresh bread, scones and fine pieces are on the way from @the_bread_maker , and we still have a few Wildhearth sourdough loaves left — now half price. 🥖 They’re easy to revive: just sprinkle with a little water and pop in the oven at 180–200°C for 5–10 minutes. Perfect for cosy weekend lunches! The photo today is of the moon this morning because 1) I love it and 2) I’m bored posting photos of bread 🤣

Aaaaaand our first big haul of tomatoes goes to….. 🥁🥁🥁 Kepplestone Farm Shop!! @kepplestonefarmshop Our fantastic wee cherry tomatoes pack so much flavour and zing in every single one. They’re honestly the best tomatoes we’ve ever tasted or grown! Fully organic, so they’re fit to eat straight off the vine this morning 🤩 Tomatoes are also great to eat seasonally at this time of year as they contain: 🍅 POTASSIUM which reduces the risk of heart disease and strokes 🍅 LYCOPENE which reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases 🍅 CAROTENOIDS to improve eye health and protect from eye related diseases AND protect the skin from levels of UV damage 🍅 VITAMIN A is produced by beta-carotenes and helps with low-light vision 🍅 a range of B VITAMINS are also found in tomatoes, helping with many cellular processes 🍅 VITAMIN C improves the skin and improves the body’s defence mechanisms 🍅 VITAMIN K which aids blood clotting and therefore wound healing, as well as being good for bone and heart health too 🍅 they are also thought to help with symptoms of menopause such as anxiety, heart rate and energy expenditure 🍅 their high moisture content and rich flavour is also a necessary boost for the colder months and helps keep our brain, cells and skin hydrated What’s not to love about a fresh tomato? Eat them raw, purée them, roast them, toss them into salads, spag bol, or juice ‘em! The possibilities are endless.

Our unofficial work uniform mostly consists of charity shop corduroys, filthy fingernails, shoes full of soil & @blacklodgepress merch 🪏🌱🔥 If you haven’t already clocked on to the incredible work being done by Black Lodge Press, then now is the time! At Cuairt Crops, we’re all about influencing a healthy and necessary separation from the toxic consumerism and systematic exploitation, destruction and cultural cancellation of today’s agriculture and land use… Black Lodge’s Anarchist Gardeners Club is attempting to do all that through encouraging radical gardening & reconnection of the people with the Earth through growing. We believe the state is only suitable when it provides for its people and planet. Until then, we sow seeds of change. Go check them out!!
