A different city, a new perspective. This time, Budapest. 🇭🇺

From Rome to the heart of Europe, every destination offers a new way to see the world. Through the lens of architecture student Bill Purcell, Budapest reveals its beauty in the details, the contrasts, and the stories written into its streets.

Because one of the most beautiful parts of studying abroad is discovering that inspiration doesn’t end where your classes do 🤍

Rome has a way of making you look up, slow down, and notice 🇮🇹

At the façades, along ancient streets, through arches, ruins and fragments of centuries layered one over another. There is always another detail to notice, another perspective to discover, another reason to stop.

Rome, captured through the eyes of Paula J. Maneval 🤍 @cuarch @hey_its_pjm

Rome, through the eyes of an architecture student 🇮🇹 @cuarch

A view captured by Kathryn Cortese, reminding us that in Rome, sometimes all you need to do is stop, look around, and get a little lost in its beauty.

📢 After three years of research, it's finally here!
Excited to share our new scientific paper in Brain and Environment:
"Cognitive-aesthetic effects of sacred vs. secular architecture on believers: A neurophenomenological exploratory study."
✨ To our knowledge, this is the first neurophenomenological study exploring how sacred architecture differs from secular architecture in shaping human experience.
Supported by the Templeton Religion Trust, the study combines architecture, neuroscience, phenomenology, psychology, theology, and computer science to better understand how the spaces we inhabit can influence the brain, body, and lived experience.
Grateful to my wonderful co-authors and everyone who made this research possible.
