tomorrow I do the most on-brand thing possible: play a teacher in a musical about school, performed for a conference full of teachers. Ms. Elsie Besant, reporting for duty! 👩🏻‍🏫 Schooled! a brand-new musical by Peter Nilsson, directed by Rebecca Aparicio, gets its first full two-act staged reading tomorrow (Sun Oct 18) at 6:30 PM in the Rosemary Heyl Theatre at Carlow University, as part of PAIS’ Elevate Learning Teacher Conference. 📝 So what IS a staged reading? Actors at music stands, scripts in hand, minimal staging… no full costumes, no sets. The focus is the words and the music. It’s how a brand-new musical gets its first real audience: we read, we sing, you react, and the show grows from there. You’re watching a musical be born in real time, typos and all. Gotta love live theater! 🎭 Come check this out, one night only. See you there! #pittsburgh #pais #elevatelearning #schooled #newmusicalert

“Lullaby” Written by Nestor Guzman Directed by Rebecca Aparicio Blending magical realism with grounded family drama, Lullaby explores gender, identity, generational cycles, and the quiet ways love tries to survive inside broken systems. Moving between the spiritual and the deeply human, the play asks whether people are doomed to repeat the lives handed to them or if choosing to love differently is enough to change the story. $15 Cabaret Theater Showtimes: Tuesday - September 1 - 6:30 pm Wednesday - September 2 - 9 pm Thursday - September 3 - 6:30 pm Saturday - September 5 - 2 pm Sunday - September 6 - 8 pm

It’s been a few weeks since the first post-college Theatre production I was a part of has closed! I had the amazing opportunity to be the Stage Manager of Rootbound: A New Musical, an original piece written by Zoe Howard and Stephen Elkins (@stephenelkins ), choreographed by CJ Walls (@cadyjeanwalls ), and directed by Camille Jenkins (@camajenks )! The show was performed at the 7Stages Theatre in Atlanta, GA on August 15th and 16th for the SheATL Summer Theatre Festival! It was such a fast and fun process coming on to stage manage a show that only had 2 weeks of in-person rehearsals, but definitely learned a lot and had a great time seeing a piece like this all come together in such a short amount of time! To all the actors, directors, writers, thank you for your guidance and support bringing me onto the show! It was a great time and hope to work with you guys once again down the line! And to all my amazing friends who came out and watched, thank you all for showing up and showing out! So what’s next?👀 (📸: @cadyjeanwalls )
