Honestly guys, this is SO OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE I cannot even explain 😮‍💨🫣
.
I have never been one who ruffles feathers! I’ve always been polite, not wanted to put people on the spot or make them feel uncomfortable - such a nice girl 😮‍💨 I mean sure - I’ve plucked up the courage to write a stern email over the years but nothing comes close to saying to your kid’s principal - in person - “hey what’s going on with screen use in your school isn’t okay”
.
And then to KEEP being the squeaky wheel!!!🛞 to follow up, check for progress, ask for clarification, ask to present to the board of trustees and basically make it clear that this can no longer we swept under the rug 🫨
.
Yes, the principal was open to hearing my point of view and concerns, yes she took these to the senior leadership team and yes they’re preparing a document to outline best practice for screen use going forward 🙏🏼 this is amazing and I’m grateful!
.
But it doesn’t make up for the last 3 years where all of my politely spoken concerns have gone unaddressed - all while my kids have become accustomed to screen time as a reward, become addicted to games introduced by the school, and lost countless learning opportunities 😵‍💫
.
So here I am - proudly ruffling feathers & totally willing to be not liked, found annoying & all the rest. But our kids are worth it (and teachers are too!!) literally everyone - except Ed tech companies 🤪 - benefits from reducing screen use in schools 🙌

Nothing quite like your husband being off on a silent meditation retreat while you try and find 4 pairs of matching football socks before 7.30am 🤪

Thank god for the winter sunshine & a good 90 mins worth of ferrying them to their games for me to take some deep breaths and listen to my woo woo music 😝

When in Rome 🤷🏻‍♀️😝

Honestly I had been seeing SO many people having these crazy elaborate photo shoots as I travelled around Xiamen and wondered what the heck was going on….
.
Then as I sat at one of the “it” spots to watch the sunset I was approached by a guy who had taken what was actually a really amazing pic of me and I thought ‘why the f*ck not!?’
.
So off we went around the cafe (like about 10 other gals around me) and he snapped away 😝 I was literally having such a giggle the whole time because it honestly felt so ridiculous but at the same time YOLO!
.
There’s no such thing as too much posing or too many photos here in China 🙌
.
And you know what - these pics (albeit SUPER airbrushed lolz) captured me in such a footloose and fancy free moment of my life and it’s actually really cool to have these as a souvenir of my first big girl biz trip ✨

Some call it dopamine dressing - I like to think of it as giving your inner child the reigns & GOING WITH IT😝✨

Honestly at the moment it’s a needs/must situation but you know ya girl doesn’t do shit by halves - so VOILA!
.
Can confirm I did indeed 1000% sweat through the dress but it was relatively imperceptible so I’m taking that as a win 🙌
.
And this concludes my relatively unhinged OOTD omg I have places to go and people to see series my friends! Those peeps who keep this up every day are hard core man 😂 I’ll be wearing the dregs of my clean clothes tomorrow and then back to reality (maybe with a lil extra outfit inspo pep in my step tho 😝)

When you’re open to magic - the Universe can’t help but oblige✨(can you tell I’m rereading The Alchemist)😝

Not only was this day the ENTIRE reason I came to China in the first place but it also ended up being one of the most soul filling, delightful and memorable days ever 🙌
.
Life just seemed to flow and I was literally giddy with the freedom of being able to just decide things on the spot with no one to consider but myself (it’s been a LONG time since that was the case - and to be honest this is my first time ever travelling overseas alone so maybe this day was so special because it was truly my first experience of being out in the big wide world by myself!)
.
Anyhoo i hipe you’re enjoying coming along for the ride (and yes the promised photoshoot reel is coming don’t worry 😛)

Took a while but finally found some fun Full-length kids swimmers from @cucumbercool_ and they have been prefect. Means we can have long days in the sun without worry. The kids' skin gets a break from the chemicals in suscreen and we get a break from remembering to reaply.
