Allan F. Acevedo (He/They), a law graduate, legal commentator, and LGBTQ activist, has contributed to local queer newspapers, managed newsletters for LGBTQ causes, and has written for various publications. Previously quoted or featured in Newsweek, The Los Angeles Times, The San Diego Union Tribune, The Advocate, and Out Magazine, Acevedo is recognized as an Out 100 Honoree (2007). As a grant writer and fundraiser for advocacy and direct service organizations, Acevedo also hopes to leave behind a body of work that inspires self-discovery and love as political protest. Will's district covers an area stretching from Palm Springs into parts of Riverside and this is an extremely important race for the House.

Will was narrowly defeated by incumbent Calvert in the 2022 election, and he has a strong chance of winning this next election. Congressman Calvert is an extreme right-winger and it's time for him to give it up. Will is an Out and Proud member of our community and is endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign.

Throwback to when I volunteered with a future mayor, a wanna-be mayor, and some of the best people I’ve met. SD Pride always manages to find the best volunteers. Swipe right to see what I look like when I procrastinate on laundry (1 month!) and have to have an early morning meeting. Thankfully, the first load will be done soon, so I’ll be back to looking like a regular WFH employee 😂

Last week I started this new project of being part of NMAC Gay Men of Color Fellowship. Where we meet with community members from different parts of the country, where we have this same purpose of #StopHIVTogether

The Gay Men of Color Fellowship Program purpose is to increase biomedical prevention awareness among gay men by framing the conversation around sex and pleasure. The fellowship will be a social media-based campaign grounded in its members and their networks. Fellows will be able to shape the campaign from the ground up by providing input on the design and content after being trained on social media management and biomedical prevention.

I also participated in the Biomedical HIV Prevention Summit that was held in Las Vegas, here are some memories of those incredible moments…

✨🎉 Today, The Center’s Team stopped by San Diego City Hall to receive a special proclamation, naming Saturday, September 25th as AIDS Walk & Run San Diego Day.

We’d like to take a moment to thank Mayor Todd Gloria ( @mayortoddgloria ), Council President Jen Campbell (@jencampbellsd ) and Council President Pro Tem Stephen Whitburn (@cmwhitburn ) for presenting us with this honor and joining us in the quest to #BetheGeneration to end new cases of HIV in San Diego County.

As #AWSD 2021 kicks off today, we are grateful to all who are still fundraising strong and raising life-changing funds to support HIV services and prevention programs in San Diego County.

For those who are comfortable, we invite you to join us on Saturday morning at The Center for our in-person outdoor Community Celebration! Event opens at 8am and begins at 9am. See you there!
