This Saturday night, we’re grateful to collaborate with our friends at @unitedwayri and @waterfireprov to showcase some of Rhode Island’s greatest emerging talent!

Both organizations represent something special about our state: the power of community, the importance of creating opportunities, and the belief that when we come together, we can make a meaningful difference.

United Way of Rhode Island has spent a century bringing people together to build stronger communities, expand opportunities, support families, and help Rhode Islanders access the resources they need to thrive. Their work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future.

WaterFire Providence has transformed our capital city into a destination for art, culture, music, and community. Through its internationally recognized public art experience, WaterFire brings people together, celebrates creativity, and helps make Providence a more vibrant place to live, work, and visit.

We’re especially excited to be part of an evening that brings these missions together with the incredible talent emerging right here in Rhode Island. From musicians to performers and artists, our state is filled with creative individuals who deserve opportunities to share their gifts, connect with new audiences, and take the next steps in their journeys.

That’s what community is all about: opening doors, creating platforms, supporting one another, and investing in the next generation.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of it and look forward to a great evening of music, art, and community this Saturday from 4 PM to 10 PM!

Louie’s Interlude. Unkempt, uncomfortable, unapologetic, unable to ignore that the world is on fire and even a few words can make a difference to someone.

This is a rendition of “Caterpillars In My Stomach.” repackaged as “Louie’s Interlude.” for @cupha.sol’s project, “NEVER SATISFIED”

More about the poem:
Some of our emotions flourish into butterflies, others are stifled and repressed so they remain caterpillars. This piece is commentary as a result of how we as a collective of cultures teach children, specifically young boys, to internalize many of those emotions when they start showing on their sleeves. Instead of understanding them and finding their cause or a way through.

As time passes, we are all becoming better about the toxic behaviors and repercussions of that BUT there’s some unlearning and unpacking along the way. This is part of that unpacking.

Hoping this pushes someone, regardless of gender, further along their self-discovery, emotional or otherwise.

Thanks to Cupha for hearing something in this piece and wanting to make more out of it. Thanks to Calvin for doing the same and putting his lens on it. Thanks to all the fathers, father figures, and brothers who create space for people to be vulnerable with each other and lead by example. Thanks to you for listening and connecting. Thanks to @lupefiasco just because.

The Search series was never meant to be a competition… it was always meant to be a creative showcase starting conversations. Over the course of our 10 month journey we introduced a collaboration round that invited artists to stop performing alongside each other and start creating with each other. What happened next was nothing short of amazing. Solo artists became groups and strangers became family.
In some of the most divisive times any of us can remember, art reminded us of what we already knew deep down… that we are stronger together! None of this would have been possible without @theblueroomri whose stunning space gave our artists the room to breathe, explore, connect, and grow. Thank you to every single collaborative artist who showed up, opened up, and gave everything you had from your passionate souls! We are the most creative state in America. ❤️⚓️

This past weekend, unveiling our pilot season winners at RIFC Centerville Bank Stadium was a moment I’ll carry with me forever. The energy, the unity, the emotion, all so powerful. We built a community that chooses to see each other, support each other, and rise together. The Search transformed into something far beyond a production, it became a movement rooted in trust, creativity, and shared collaborative purpose. We can’t wait for what’s next for our Search family 💙⚓️💛

Im not sure I’ll ever find the words to fully capture how special The Search grand finale was. It felt like a true family reunion—getting to create alongside so many incredible artists and the amazing people behind the scenes these nine last months lead to this moment

@whatuprhody and I had the honor of introducing @cupha.sol who’s performance was legendary.

Huge thank you to @laineydionnemusic for inviting our mental health workers and advocates to close out the night. It was powerful—there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
