Celebrated our favorite Andrea’s belated birthday at @the_malarkey_pdx last night!

Chef @brianmalarkey’s newer spot in the former Oba space is described as a love letter to Portland—and the decor delivers. A little hodgepodge of everything Portland that somehow works SO well. There’s even a disco ball in the bathroom. A 🪩! Clearly, they understand my needs!

Drinks were delicious, food was fantastic, and service was spectacular. But the company? My favorite part. 🤍

The more seasoned we become, the more I cherish time with my people. Our schedules are hectic, but we ALWAYS find a way to make it happen. A belated celebration is still a celebration. Love our tribe. Happy Belated Birthday, @a_grandemartinez! WLYSM! 🫶🏼

P.S. We later found out we just missed THE Michael Jordan as our reservation was a little bit later in the evening. Dangnit!

Last month, WE had the pleasure of catering Cocktail Hour for @lani.2012 and @jstickles89’s intimate wedding at @festivehillwinery in Oregon City. 🤍

After walking the grounds, my sister said the venue reminded her of a little slice of Italy. I’ve never been, but I could see what she meant. It was beautiful!

For their approximately 100 guests, WE served Vietnamese Chả Giò, Golden Tofu, Coconut Shrimp, Crab Pillows, Thai Fish Cakes, and Mini Boxes of Drunken Spaghetti.

Lani and James, thank you for letting us be part of such a fun and special day. Happy One Month Anniversary! 🥂

Apparently, turning 15 does NOT mean Mama gets the night off. Dangnit! 🫠

Another birthday, another request from Maddie & Brookie for a home-cooked feast with the family, featuring some of their favorites: Mama’s Coconut Curry Dungeness Crab & Shrimp and Chicken Khao Poon, while Big Bro Justin handled the grill with some delicious Beef Ribeyes with spicy Jeow Som. 🔥

Happy 15th Birthday, Mads & B! No matter how grown you get, Mama will always cook your favorites. 💞

This past weekend, WE had the honor of catering the wedding of one of the sweetest couples, Lily & Billy! 🤍

Here’s what makes their story so special: While planning their Oregon wedding from afar, they found White Elephant Asian Fusion online and hired us without ever tasting our food. They trusted me and my team to create and execute their entire menu while accommodating their guests’ dietary restrictions.

As an AAPI woman-owned small business, that kind of trust is something I’ll never take for granted. It’s one of the greatest compliments I could receive, and a reminder that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

WE had the pleasure of serving nearly 200 guests at @lilyysam’s parents’ gorgeous property on Portland’s west side. WE worked alongside an incredible vendor team and celebrated with some of the kindest families and friends. A huge shoutout to Coordinator @lianneyun for keeping everything running so seamlessly—you are a ROCKSTAR!

And if you’re thinking about hiring White Elephant Asian Fusion for your next event… just know that while it’s not written into the contract, our HYPE CREW comes included! WE work hard, serve delicious food, and know how to PARTAYYYYY! 🥳

THANK YOU, Lily & Billy, for trusting us to be part of your beautiful day. WE truly appreciate you both! 🤍

Full circle moment 💫

I was reading page 11 out loud to the room.

“...I don’t have a plan. Part of that is on purpose and part of that is just not having a clue. What I am sure of is my wants. I want…friends made by me and not inherited by Sean. I want to be creative. I want to make a difference somehow. The details are to be determined. Amanda TBD.”

When I looked up from the pages, tears immediately fell. I was confronted with past and present Amanda all in one moment. I remembered writing these words and how I felt so lost. Then seeing all the faces in the room looking at me, engaged in my words, it hit me. They represent that commitment to the free fall. I explained why the tears,”You ARE my TBD.” It was an emotional moment. Especially with my daughter, son, husband, mother and mother-in-law in the seats to witness it. I will always remember it 💗

Giving personal testimony in a room full of love is exactly why I wanted to resurface my book. The preamble to it all. The moment of the ultimate life shift, even pre-covid, and I decided to document each day. I’m so glad I did.

After the reading, we discussed life after the book. Truths I’ve never shared publicly. The whole room wanted this to be book #2, but I’m not sure I have it in me to write another one any time soon. But it was fun to relive and say some of those things out loud. The laughter felt like such a release too.

Thank you to those who came and everyone who couldn’t make it. You’ve held me up over the years. I also appreciate the recent spike in book sales 👀 Please leave me a review and let me know what you think. I’d love to post on @sidetracked_thebook IG account.

🔗If you’d like to purchase a book, the link is in my bio or you can head to @woopdxgifts in North Portland to get one too. Thank you Lauren 🙏🏽

Special shout out to Jessica and Robb once again for hosting us at @che.pdx last weekend and Leizl @leizl.quin , Estella @estellatse and Rachel @rachelelizabethartistry for some of the captures in this post 💞
