One week since the live auction! What an atmosphere ⭐ Each producer donated 10 kg of their finest lot. It was the first live, multi-country charity auction of its kind, open to bidders in the room and online worldwide. Thank you to the producers, to SCAJ, and to everyone who bid.

This is our first time participating in the Cup of Excellence, where we chose to submit a processing method that is highly scalable. We are incredibly proud to have our coffee featured alongside the best from across the archipelago, evaluated by a top-tier judges from various countries. The Cup of Excellence is what inspired my dream to become a coffee judge—and standing on that stage remains my ultimate goal. Although I haven't judged at a COE event just yet, tasting COE samples over the past few years has filled me with deep respect for the producers at origin and the passion reflected in every cup. For this cupping, we’ve invited top-tier Mexican producers to share some truly exceptional coffees with you. Having taken top honors at COE, these coffees really showcase the incredible potential of Mexican coffee. It’s an experience you definitely won't want to miss. If you’re free tonight at 19:30, send a DM to @shyghost_coffeelab to reserve your spot and join us for a meaningful evening. Thank you!

A proud week for Mercanta in Tokyo 🇯🇵 Our founder, Stephen Hurst, has been named one of the first three Visionaries of Excellence, a new Cup of Excellence programme honouring the people who helped build Cup of Excellence and shape the specialty coffee movement. He was recognised alongside Hidetaka Hayashi and Marcelo Vieira. For Stephen, this recognition reflects decades spent cupping on international juries, travelling to origin and championing the producers behind exceptional coffees. It’s a story that has shaped Mercanta for 30 years. ☕️ Stephen also took the stage as MC and auctioneer for the Legends of Excellence charity auction at SCAJ 2026, alongside Doto-san from Wataru. Twelve legendary producers, each with multiple Cup of Excellence wins, donated their coffees, and the auction raised over $40,000 for social projects in producing communities and coffee education worldwide. 🌍 While Stephen was on stage, our colleague Aster bid live and secured the very first lot of the auction: Don Cayito from Luis Ricardo Calderón, a four-time Cup of Excellence winner in Costa Rica. 🇨🇷 Congratulations, Stephen, and thank you to @cupofexcellence for a special week in Tokyo! 👏 #CupOfExcellence #SCAJ2026 #SpecialtyCoffee #GreenCoffee #coffeeimporter

“A coffee that builds relationships through honorability, passion, and a commitment to excellence.”
