c.exe & Gerry Rig Sound System present a Brixton House takeover, with the whole crew who play at the c.exe HQ bringing the music from arvo till late. Come for a cold one, stay for the sunset.

Stalls on the day too, with art, vinyl and clothes to dig through.

This is the first of our open-air day parties running all summer, so consider it the warm-up. Costumes encouraged, sunscreen optional.

Current Art Magazine (@currentartmagazine) is an independent contemporary art magazine from Aotearoa, bringing together artists, art workers, writers and thinkers from across the wider Pacific. The magazine looks closely at the practices and ideas shaping the region’s art scene through conversations, essays, studio visits, and more.

This issue includes IMA Director Robert Leonard in conversation with Mitch Cairns ahead of ‘Artist’s Mouth’, opening at the gallery on 10 October, and Assistant Director Nicholas Aloisio-Shearer reflecting on Jon Rafman’s ‘Memento Hikikomori.’

Issue 03 also features George Watson, Nephi Tupaea, Mitch Cairns, Atarangi Anderson, Yana Dombrowsky-M’Baye, Nicholas Pound, Jeena Shin, Emerita Baik, Heidi Brickell, and Pallavi Paul.

Pretty stoked to see the latest issue of Current with Peter’s essay on my work.
I was first taught by Peter Shand in my first year at Elam in 1999 for critical studies - his sharp mind, way with words and dress sense had a big impact on many of us and still does. Since then, he has been a constant support - to my creative practice and my other professional art life, he is a mentor and sounding board. Thank you Pete for articulating my thoughts 🙌

Hyperaware and full of respect.
This fitting in took place in the exhibition space on the day of the opening of Slow Burn Ahi Tāmau, curated by @lissamitchell1900 at Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington NZ, before it was open to the public. No touching. No staining. No accidentally moving anything. It was a pleasure. Thanks for the trust!

Spring Fling at The Brixton 🏡

Last Saturday the lawn was full, records were spinning all afternoon, the BBQ smoke drifted the whole way down the street and for a few hours the house did what it does best — brought people together.

To every vendor who set up a stall, every DJ who kept the day moving, and everyone who wandered in for a record, thrift or just because — thank you. This is the whole reason we wanted to do it.
