It’s our favorite day of the week! This Replay Wednesday has a lot of practical advice for independent artists trying to get into sync.

Sync is more than just making great music. During our informative hour with Caleb and Jonathan (from @musicclearly), artists get a better insight into organizing their music, understanding the licensing pathway, building relationships with agencies and supervisors that stand out, and staying proactive during the submission process.

Curious about working with agencies? Want to make your music easier to license? Tune into the full replay with Jonathan and Caleb on our YouTube channel today (linked in bio).

HOW DO SOUNDTRACK ALBUMS GET MADE?

In this installment of “Clearly Musings” (yeah, that’s what we call these now), we do a deep dive in to how a soundtrack is navigated, cleared, who makes money, production costs, and what a profit realistically looks like! We also dig a little in to the rise and fall of the soundtrack market.

Our instinct is that this will be a helpful resource not only for film makers but even veteran music supervisors who silently wish they knew more about it! Enjoy 🎶

@thebsideclub is always one of my favorite hangs, and I’m extra grateful for these weekend dates. 💖
It’s so refreshing to step away from the work and genuinely connect with our music community friends catch up, make plans, talk music, talk life, and leave feeling inspired every time.
Also, we just dropped a new episode on @limitlesscreativitypodcast with @willowedgeaudio and @bakerymastering, and wow... expansive, insightful, and seriously inspiring. 🎙️✨
And can we talk about this breakfast? Sexy AF. 🍳😏 Plus, Be Like Us perfectly complements @kevipoopoo’s thriving breakfast modeling career because being like us is epically chill.
Feeling refreshed, connected, and inspired.

B-SIDE #8 RECAP 🔥

We had to do it, right? May’s B-SIDE breakfast was at the very iconic @norms in WeHo. Established in 1957! That’s REAL old. The food though? NOT old. In fact, it was fresh, hot, quick, and tasty! Pancakes were fluffy, French toast was fluffy and by the end, we were all a little fluffier too. A wonderful breakfast indeed! 🥞☕️🍳

Swipe to the last pic to scope out this month’s B-SIDE playlist from our wonderful attendees and click the link in bio to give it a listen. A truly eclectic mix of jams! 🎧

Thanks to the NORM’S staff and our wonderful B-SIDERS in attendance this month:

Welp, last night was super super cool!

As big fans of @son_lux, we were honored that @dominopubco allowed us to be involved in presenting a listening party and Q&A for their forthcoming record with @ryanlottmusic (moderated by @jesseroyal)🔥. We LOVE the new record and can’t wait for everyone to hear it when it drops later this year! 🎶

BIG thanks to Ryan of Son Lux, @jmart5 at Domino, our homies @squeakecleanstudios as always for the amazing space and having such great taste, @woodesmusic for EVERYTHING, and Jesse Carmichael from @maroon5 for moderating! 🙏

We’ve noticed that there’s a lot of confusion around what a Music Supervisor does so we wrote an article to explain the nuts and bolts of what a Music Supervisor ACTUALLY does in an article called “What a Music Supervisor Actually Does” - Great title, huh? I know, it’s genius.

LINK IN BIO YO!

Couple more things to clarify that we see often:

If someone is representing your music for synch opportunities, that job function is not called “music supervision.” That’s a synch agent of some sort. They pitch your music to a Music Supervisor or the production.

The Music Supervisor also doesn’t participate in a percentage of the licensing fee for a song. We’re paid by the production who hired us for our services.

...What other misinformation do you all see about the world of Music Supervision that we can dispel?
