3 Bathroom Upgrades I am SO GLAD we splurged on!! It's so stressful during the decision phase... but now that we've lived with our new bathroom - these are the 3 I couldn't live without. Comment "RENO" to get all the details and see my before and after photos.

Thanks to our longtime home partners @customonehomesmn and this is our third room with the custom-made artistry of @mercurymosaics! So cool! What's your favorite upgrade? #ad

After 39 years in the garage door business, I thought I had seen it all until a potential customer contacted me asking for help with a door.

They were asking about "moving their door springs and hardware to the outside of their door," which I knew did not exist, until I was sent an AI-developed photo they had found on an actual professional garage door dealer's website, and there it was. They wanted to know who to contact, since they had seen it multiple times online, so it must exist.

We don't sell or provide repair services, but we're always here to help. We connect anyone who contacts us with a local professional door installer and advise them on what to ask for. In this case, "springs & hinges on the exterior face of a door" was not an option. It helps both parties understand what is needed and provides a great starting point without the frustrations of identifying parts.

However, after finding more AI-generated applications of additional doors and installations that do not exist (some shown here), I started wondering why anyone would use such photos on their own website, especially as a professional door company? Was it an oversight, or part of a template, too costly to change out, or did it not matter; they saw it not affecting their business?

And it's not just the door industry; it's showing up across the building/remodeling industry on sites from market leaders to small one-person operations, from windows to roofing materials. Casement windows facing outward, roofing material as walkways, and so on.

Before you sign off on any new website designs or updates, please confirm the photos and services shown are real applications. Some potential customers will go elsewhere, while for others it may not matter.

It matters to everyone, as it reflects on one's business and on all of us within both the new housing and remodeling marketplace.

This Mendota Heights remodel turned a once-constrained kitchen into an open, connected gathering space, removing structural columns and introducing warm white oak, custom cabinetry, a statement waterfall island, and thoughtful details to work with how the homeowner lives today.

And this is just one space you can tour this weekend only during Remodelers Showcase.

This weekend, explore reimagined kitchens, transformed main levels, refreshed bathrooms, whole-home renovations, and more—all in person—all for free. It’s a chance to see what’s possible within an existing home and meet the remodelers bringing these transformations to life.

The Remodelers Showcase is happening Oct. 2-4 from noon to 6 p.m. in the Twin Cities and noon to 4 p.m. in Rochester. Browse the spaces & plan your Remodelers Showcase weekend at ParadeofHomes.org.

PRIMARY BATHROOM REVEAL: we tore our bathroom apart after 20 years in our home and rebuilt the hotel spa bath we wanted for the empty nester chapter of life! We did it with @customonehomesmn - and there are so many elements we love! Ana, our Custom One Renovation designer helped guide us to a beautiful custom made vanity with heated floors, and I wanted the showstopping handmade tile from @mercurymosaics! Watch for a glimpse of the before at the end - we’ll be posting more of what we learned here and at @customonehomesmn !!
