For the past five or six years I pretty much stopped buying horror tapes. I still love horror movies, but hunting down the actual tapes stopped being fun. Back in the late 2000s/early 2010s, I loved finding something weird in the wild, grabbing it for a couple just bucks. But now everyone’s chasing the same horror titles, and the excitement just vanished.

I have completely switched gears, and started focusing on my other favorite subgenre - the spoof film - and tape collecting feels fun again. This is stuff nobody else seems to be fighting over for some reason.

So here it is: my #Top20of2025.

FULL MOON HIGH – Airplane!-style werewolf gags and Ed McMahon chaos.
CLAWS – Tim Sample vs. a Jaws-spoofing lobster.
THE UNKNOWN COMEDY SHOW – A floating fever dream of ’80s stand-up oddities.
COMEDY DOWNEAST STYLE – Cabaret-style Downeast humor from five local legends.
RICKY 1 – A scrappy, strange, endearing Rocky parody.

WHEEZE WORLD – Wayne’s World as an asthma PSA.
F.A.R.T. THE MOVIE – A full-blown fart multiverse.
2GETHER – A dead-on boy-band mockumentary with parody songs that slap.
THE SCHMENGES: THE LAST WALTZ – John Candy & Eugene Levy in a polka send-off.
JUST FRIENDS – A last-of-its-kind VHS and holiday rom-com meltdown.

THE BEL-AIR BITCH PROJECT – Sensationalized, erotic faux-true-crime weirdness.
THE BLAIR BITCH PROJECT – Linda Blair spoofing Blair Witch - AUTOGRAPHED!
SECRET AGENT OO SOUL – Billy Dee spy spoof nonsense.
CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL – Trey Parker frontier chaos.
BLONDES HAVE MORE GUNS – Troma-style sleaze and sight gags.

PSYCHO BEACH PARTY – Surf flick meets slasher meets camp.
YELLOWBEARD – Graham Chapman in pirate-chaos overload.
AMAZON WOMEN OF THE MOON – Channel-surfing parody.
HIGH SCHOOL HIGH – Jon Lovitz inspiring nobody.
ELVIS STORIES – An anthology proving the King never died.

Here’s a group of movies that I consider straight-up gems, no apologies, no regrets. I know “guilty pleasure” gets thrown around like some kind of shameful badge, but let me make this clear: I don’t feel guilty about any of these. In fact, I could probably crank out a thesis on each one because they’re all pure, unfiltered brilliance in their own bizarre, twisted ways. Sure, some of them might surprise you—hell, they might even surprise me—but that’s exactly what makes them special. These films have depth, they’ve warped my brain, and every time I press play, they pull me back into their vortex of cinematic madness. No matter how many times I’ve seen them, I’m always hooked. Open tag to anyone who wants to show me their "guilty pleasures".
