The pic of him sitting like a little man in the pillow is one of my favs.

Summer 2019, we started our beach trips and amazing sand castle building days— memories we will cherish forever.
My parents came to visit, and we tried to go camping— that’s a story for another day, but I’ll never go back to Lopez Lake.
We also took at trip to Monterey for a friends wedding— another amazing trip with TuTu Bear!

Also spring 2019, we started exploring the Lower Westside together and settling into life a little bit— TuTu quickly became part of my immediate family too— see his nasty beard from sniffing around the backyard of our San Pedro home? It was his favorite place to explore!

Spring 2019, Collin helped me build patio furniture, and I helped him move into his new apartment (around the corner from me, lol) and TuTu fell in love with his new neighborhood.

Late Feb to early Spring 2019: The first pictures of Muthu in my (Tiff’s) camera roll— some of these are from Collin, and I saved them because I just thought Muthu was soooo cute. I bought him his first real dog bed, because before that he’d only use real human furniture and blankies. I gave him my whole heart, and taught him some tricks along the way— check out this video of us teaching him to roll over :)

May moments. Spring is in full bloom, so here are some snapshots of sun stretched days. Enjoy! Been so busy I haven’t had time to post beyond stories. So thankful for this beautiful place, the people I’ve met along the way, art & artful architecture, poetry parties, live music & libations, and last but not least Lucky void tum time. ✨🖤✨

On Cinema is one of those IYKYK kinds of projects that we’ve been fans of for years! It quickly became our favorite way to enjoy biting social commentary and insane character personalities!

It’s an indie show by hilarious and brilliant creatives— so naturally, they’ve got me OBSESSED!

Hope we find more On Cinema-heads out there (especially women)— let me know in the comments if you’re also “addicted to this…”

Next time, I’m coming out to make more On Cinema besties! 👯‍♀️👯👯‍♂️🍿

Anywayssss, hope you like the little things we made to enjoy our fav show IRL!

Khmer New Year Post:
Life has been very different than I thought it’d be. After I finished my PhD, I was stuck in survival mode. I’m still kinda there, but I’m finally seeing signs of life come back into my soul.

After almost of decade of being paid less than minimum wage to teach at UCSB, I jumped full force into our jewelry business @creatiffitystudios and hosting affordable maker’s markets in Santa Barbara (check us out @beachsidebabesmarket and @mosaicmakershub)

I decided to lean into the good and take space from the bad. So while I haven’t yet gotten back to my other creative endeavors (music, dance, performance), I’ve been building something that will sustain me and my family on our own— away from toxic institutions and short-sighted people that demand we work until we are dead.

For Khmer New Year, I’m setting an intention for myself: don’t beat yourself up for what you haven’t done— instead, lean into what you are doing. Our “doing” has been in service to ourselves AND the larger Santa Barbara community.

I’m making fun art and dynamic events for a living now. That’s WILD. I thought I would perform professor for the rest of life, but turns out there’s no stability in higher ed any more. Now, I’m using my experiences and life’s work in even more creative ways that nod back to my family’s hustle AND community building.

My momma taught me to work hard, so now I’m teaching her what it looks like to do it 100% for yourself on YOUR OWN terms. This is being Cambodian in diaspora— this is Cambodian American realness.

I’ll get back to the other art and writing someday, but for now I’m a small biz baddie :)

Please support my new work, my old work, and hopefully you are inspired to make something for yourself too! I’m rooting for us all!

Happy New Year 🇰🇭

P.S. FUCK AI, FUCK war, FUCK imperialism, and FUCK OFF with gaslighting yourself into thinking it’s all going to be fine. It’s not. But, when you realize that, at least you’ll be free.

(DM to inquire about these KNY jewelry pieces— they are available, I’m just unable to post em online rn)

March wrap up. What a beautiful month filled with friends, flowers, fasting, food, and fur babies. It’s also been extremely stressful spring due to rising costs of just about everything, but I find a freedom in enjoying the little bits of beauty everywhere. ✨🌼🌞🌟 At least I’m rich in friends and wildflowers!
