This one-day seminar sponsored by the DAAD is intended to promote the professional development of graduate student and early-career German language instructors through hands-on workshops on the practice and theory of second language pedagogy by expert practitioners and researchers in the field. The theme of this year's seminar is “Reflective Teaching.” Workshop topics will include teaching with fairy tales in German language classes, theories and practices of translation, and strategies for improving student engagement in the language classroom.

December 8th @jackmanhumanitiesinstitute

Vor der Bean in Chicago kann man vieles machen, z.B. Schlittschuh laufen! Although our grad student, Aline, was not among the many people magically sliding across the icy ground, she did enjoy this year‘s ACTFL conference in Chicago. Along with other DAAD fellows in North America, she got to learn about current language learning approaches and methodologies, and mingle with other language educators. And because the Christkindlmarket opened in Chicago that weekend, she also enjoyed a familiar ambiance, ordering her Laugenbrezel in German 🥨

Want to live abroad but don’t know how? 🗺️

We’ve personally used the following ways to move to 🇩🇪🇪🇸🇲🇽🇳🇿: study abroad, teaching English, work-exchange, and working holiday✨

Last year we moved to Aotearoa New Zealand with the Working Holiday Visa and really recommend this visa to anyone who also needs a way to fund their travels while exploring a new place.

If you have a 🇺🇸 passport and are 18 to 30, you can simply apply, pay the application fee (currently $420NZD, when we applied it was only $25NZD que paso?😳), wait for them to process your application, and you’re in! (unlimited spots)

If you have a 🇲🇽 passport, the same applies but there are only 200 visas every year. Meaning you have to practice how to fill out the application as fast as possible as soon as it opens. If your payment processes, that means you’re in!

(Check out the other eligibility requirements on their official website)

Living abroad is a transformative experience that can enrich your life in countless ways. It's a chance to step outside your comfort zone, challenge yourself, and discover new perspectives on the world and yourself.

If you have the opportunity to live abroad, we highly encourage you to embrace this life-changing opportunity✨

We’re here if you have any questions or need help getting started 🤗

What a great Arts Major Showcase with @uwaterlooarts this week!

During this event, I had the chance to talk with students who were interested in a degree in the Arts Faculty, specifically in German!

It felt awesome being able to support @uofwaterloo, represent my department as an Allumni, and educate my fellow students by informing them of what is possible with a German degree.

We chatted a lot about the study abroad programs and funding opportunities that the @DAAD.usa has to offer.

Swipe to see one of the most amazing Masters scholarships (thinking of applying to this one myself)!

To learn more about the study abroad in Germany programs and the vast funding opportunities the #DAAD has to offer, check out this weeks article!
