It’s my birthday! 32. Last birthday as a family of two 🥰 here’s some pics of our larger family. Unfortunately we got sick after all these festivities and missed 2 parties so my whole core family is not pictured.

And holy crap year 31 I lived the full year in sobriety!!! I recently saw someone share her sober journey and some things stood out to me. The main thing being that in being sober I can promise my presence as a gift to my friends, family and to my God. Being sober, means you’re uncomfortably you in any given situation. I cannot think of a greater gift that I can offer. All that I have is me. My rawness, my humility, my flaws. My love. This is me …

You have to learn to be social in a whole different way than the norm. You have to learn how to cope with the friends that stop inviting you to gatherings when you first stop drinking. You might stress over how to say no when people you love offer you drinks that they put their heart into making. You might worry others think you’re judging them for their choice to drink — which is the weirdest one to me. I partied HARD for more than a decade … You might also give hope and normalcy to others on a sobriety journey. You might inspire people who are sober curious just to see what’s possible.

My decision to stop drinking is very personal and spiritual. I didn’t face addiction as so many have. I just received messages from the one True Source that I simply am not meant to consume mind altering substances in this lifetime any longer.

I drew inspiration from others I’ve personally encountered who’ve received similar messages. Do I believe every person on earth has that same calling? Absolutely not. Do I plan on ever having another drink again in my life? Potentially. I have no idea. All that I know is that for right now, no. On December 31 of last year I committed to one year sober and I did it. Maybe by tomorrow I’ll set a new goal.

That’s all for now. Maybe I’ll divulge more in it some other time, but for now, I’m going to head to bed, kiss my love on her forehead and pray to God that I am healed in the morning from this cold that’s lasting too long.

Happy New Year. And Be Well.

Big Hugs 🤗

I organized my first networking, business brunch under the @blacknightmarket I created this event to be a space that empowered and inspired the small business community. The performers came and showed out.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event. I’m still in all with how this event went and I’m thankful for everyone who believed in me and continues to pour into me. Here’s to the first annual Black Business Brunch: An Empowering Networking Event. 🥂
