Last weekend we took 36 of the gang along to @tryka.fit in London which was an amazing event and everyone smashed it 💪🏻🔥

So good seeing members put their hard work into action on race day! Some are fitness racing pro’s, some doing a race for the very first time and it was great to see!

Many more days like this to come 💪🏻🤝

More than a gym, a community pushing each other and supporting each other to be better 🙏🏻

Exercise as assessment.
-
My client Daisy is performing a half-kneeling single-arm cable row. This variation on its face sounds pretty far from “optimal” in terms of directly stimulating hypertrophy, strength, or whatever other attribute you’re told to isolate.
-
But that’s the point.
-
By placing her in an internally stabilized environment (one which she must create stability through muscular contraction), going unilateral, contralateral, and encouraging full scapular motion – we’re taking in a tremendous amount of information.
-
To what extent can she stabilize her trunk, what is her hip mobility, scapular function, and back strength?
-
All while also “training” for hypertrophy.
-
The aim is to utilize these movements early in training as litmus tests for future bottlenecks and simultaneously eliminating them with steady, logical progressions.
-
Tempo, accessing end-range protraction and pronation, repetition count, and progressive loading will essentially bulletproof her and enable much better outcomes when we place her back in more stable, less constrained environments.

You’re not “strong… for a girl.”

You’re strong BECAUSE you’re a girl.
