Visiting Malmö? Discover 16 places that helped carry a marathon of hope
A Taste of Hope — A Companion’s Guide to Malmö brings together restaurants, cafés, bakeries, ice-cream makers, cinema and seaside minigolf.

Each featured business became a Companion through A Kilometre of Hope, supporting London to Malmö – 84.4 km of Hope and the wider fundraising journey for CCLG.

This guide is my thank-you—and an invitation to visit them, taste something new and discover more of Malmö.

With special thanks to Action and Trend, the first company to believe in the project, who supplied and printed the Joma running apparel and carried KM1.

📖 Swipe through the 20-page city guide.
📥 Read the full 29-page edition and download your free copy through the link in our bio.
📌 Save this post for your next Malmö visit and share it with someone you’d like to explore with.

To every Companion: thank you for carrying your kilometre with me.

Nobody Needs to Walk Alone.

Malmö, you smashed it.

When A Kilometre of Hope began, finding a Companion for every kilometre of Malmö Marathon felt like an enormous ambition.

Today, I will stand on the start line with 39 Companions beside me.

Companies, cafés, restaurants, clubs, colleagues, friends and family have come together to turn an individual challenge into something built by an entire community.

Every Companion has contributed to CCLG – Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, helping to support research and children, young people and families affected by cancer.

But they have also given me something that cannot be measured in kronor.

They have given every part of today’s marathon a name, a story and a reason to keep moving forward.

When the race becomes difficult, I will not simply be counting down the distance. I will be moving from one Companion to the next, knowing that every kilometre represents someone who chose to believe in this journey.

To everyone who joined, donated, shared a post, sent encouragement or helped this story reach someone new:

Thank you.

We came incredibly close to filling an entire marathon—and what Malmö has achieved is already far greater than I imagined when this began.

At 10:00 today, wearing bib number 5314, I will begin the 42.2-kilometre journey from Ribersborg.

But I will not be running it alone.

39 Companions. One city. One marathon built on kindness, community and hope.

Malmö, you smashed it.

Now it is time to run.

Nobody Needs to Walk Alone.

🍀 PAUS SAUNA FESTIVAL 2026 🔥

Once again, we came together in the heat, surrounded by the serene nature of Arriesjön 🍀♥️🫶

From endless sauna sessions, grounding rituals, and yoga, to refreshing lake swims, fireside hangs, live music, laughing until our stomachs hurt, and celebrating the pure beauty of the simple life—it was pure magic.

To be able to invite you all out here is so deeply special to me. A huge thank you to @skanskalandskap for letting us create this magical day in such a beautiful space 🌿✨

And to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU who came out, took the time, and shared your energy, hearts, and smiles with us - thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♥️

Last but definitely not least: a massive shoutout to all the incredible people behind the scenes who made this entire day possible. 💫

...But why wait another full year to do it again, hey?! 😉
I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, so stay tuned! 🤩🔥🚀☮️✌🏽

Some places are built around food. Others are built around the moments we share around it.

Dame Ginette is a French-Basque bistrot and boulangerie on Östra Förstadsgatan in Malmö—a warm and welcoming place where Swedish ingredients meet French traditions.

At the heart of Dame Ginette is a simple belief: good food and good times are meant to be shared.

That idea feels very close to the journey I am building.

London to Malmö – 84.4 km of Hope may be measured in kilometres, but it is really a journey about people choosing to share something—time, encouragement, kindness or support—with someone else.

On 3 October, I will run my first marathon here in Malmö. Through A Kilometre of Hope, we are inviting businesses, organisations and individuals to become the Companion for one of its 42 kilometres, with every contribution supporting CCLG – Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group.

I am delighted that Dame Ginette has chosen to join the journey as the Companion for kilometre 37.

By that stage of the marathon, every kilometre will matter. When I reach kilometre 37, I will know that Dame Ginette is walking beside me in spirit—and that this part of the race carries hope for children and young people facing a far greater challenge than a marathon.

Thank you to everyone at Dame Ginette for becoming part of the journey and helping us show that none of us needs to face the difficult kilometres alone.

Kilometre 37 belongs to Dame Ginette.

Nobody Needs to Walk Alone.
