On July 28, I celebrated a full year of working as @counterpublic Public Programs Manager! It has been such a journey from 6 years as full-time stay-at-home-dad / freelance graphic designer to being a full-time employee of an arts org in St. Louis’ vibrant and bustling arts and culture community! I couldn’t have asked for a better place to land or a better team to be a part of. It’s something special to be fully aware that the “good old days” are now and that you’re a part of a “golden era” crew. When I came on board, I immediately felt like everyone had my back and I theirs. After a year of workshops, talks, activations, a freaking Convening, and literally 1 million e-mails, I know that that bond remains stronger than ever. As we gear up to the opening of Counterpublic 2026 Coyote Time (September 10 - December 12), I urge every single one of you to check out this incredible citywide arts exhibition. We’ve had the great fortune of working with 5 amazing curators, 50 incredible artists, and a legion of creatives, builders, and community partners working tirelessly behind the scene to bring dreams into fruition. I’m incredibly proud of Counterpublic’s work and I know in my heart of hearts that St. Louis deserves a triennial of this caliber. We should all be so proud. All info, programs schedule, and more can be found at counterpublic.org

P.S. Catch some incredible performances from composer Nina Keith and SLSO musicians, Natural Information Society (performing a durational set amongst Joshua Abrams and Lisa Alvarado’s sculpture), Kite (along with Alex Cunningham, Lex Kosieradzki, Mere Harrach, and Andre Lubart) in response to their dream sculpture piece in Tower Grove Park, Tromarama (activating their sculpture with Ousmane Gaye, Danielle Feinstein, NNN Cook, and Alberto Patiño), Damon Smith performing Ben Patterson’s ‘Variations for Double Bass (1961)’, and more!!

The newest section of the Brickline Greenway along Market Street connects Energizer Park to Harris-Stowe State University and extends Damon Davis’ Pillars of the Valley.

The pillars honor Mill Creek Valley, a once thriving Black neighborhood where 20,000 residents were displaced during “urban renewal.” Today, the greenway helps tell those stories in a place where that history actually happened.

And it’s about more than remembering the past.

The new greenway creates safer, more accessible ways to walk, bike, roll and explore St. Louis while connecting neighborhoods, businesses, schools and major destinations along Market Street.

This is what makes projects like the Brickline Greenway so exciting to a St. Louisan like me. It’s building a more connected future while making sure we don’t forget the people and communities that shaped our city.

Take a walk down Market Street and experience it for yourself.

@greatriversstl and their partner @gatewayarchpark are currently collecting feedback on how to improve St. Louis’ Riverfront. Tell them what you think at http://www.archpark.org/survey and as a thank you for taking the survey, you’ll be entered for a chance to win tickets for a helicopter tour, riverboat cruise, and more!

I’m excited to share some process images of my upcoming work for the Great Rivers Biennial @camstl

This work is a culmination of ideas that I’ve had over the past 10 years that haven’t had an opportunity yet to come to fruition. To be honest, after losing several loved ones and having several exhibitions cancelled in the same year, I was about ready to give up, but I’m glad that I didn’t. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this exhibition a reality. Dreams do indeed come true. This exhibition is dedicated to those family and friends that we’ve lost. It is also dedicated to the people of St. Louis and the people of Lebanon and Palestine.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Please join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 10th from 6-8 PM followed by a panel discussion on Saturday, September 12th from 12-1 PM
