Here she goes, the role adapted for me, evil Colonel Joll in Philip Glass opera Waiting for the Barbarians. A production illuminating that it’s not easy being a hero. A production ending in hope and empathy. Premier tomorrow with the most fabulous people. Here with Dan and Nora who are kicking major ass in their role interpretations. https://reisopera.nl/programma/waiting-for-the-barbarians?tab=team_and_cast

SCENEFOTO'S - Waiting for the Barbarians

Muzikale leiding: Alice Farnham
Regie: Guy Weizman

Season 2026–27: 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 ⚔️

Fear needs an enemy. Power needs a threat.

𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 brings singers, dancers and a massive orchestra together in a strange and unsettling world of beauty, violence and power.

Based on J.M. Coetzee’s Nobel Prize-winning novel and Philip Glass’s late masterpiece, the opera follows a Magistrate who begins to question the system he has spent his life serving. As fear takes hold, the line between ‘us’ and ‘them’ starts to disappear.

A collaboration between Club Guy & Roni, Nederlandse Reisopera and Noord Nederlands Orkest, featuring an international top-tier cast alongside the fierce young talents of our Poetic Disasters Club.

𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 premieres September 26th.

Co-production with @reisoperanl.
