Your toothbrush might be leaving more behind than you think 🪥

Researchers found that plastic toothbrushes can shed millions of tiny plastic particles through everyday brushing - and most are too small to see.

While the health implications are still being studied, these particles can enter wastewater and the wider environment.

NZ banned plastic microbeads in toothpaste in 2018. Yet most toothbrushes still use nylon bristles - even many bamboo ones.

We thought it was time for another way to brush.

Meet EQUIL’s Horse Bristle & Bamboo Toothbrush.

✓ Real horsehair bristles
✓ Natural bamboo handle
✓ No nylon. No plastic.
✓ 4 brushes for $42.90

A small change to your daily ritual. One less source of plastic.

A little behind the scenes 👀

Patience, resilience and perseverance, there’s plenty of all three in skipping and real estate.

This was a fun way to bring two parts of my life together and show a little of who I am, in the place I love calling home 🏡❤️

A massive thank you to @mifarr and @danescottcreative the men behind the cameras, for bringing my idea to life and capturing Hawke’s Bay so beautifully.

Skip the rest, Hawke’s bay is the best 🌸

Movement series I taught this year, and will be teaching again!

I love creating a journey through movement practices. They give the experience more depth, a deeper sense of grounded Ness in the moment, and get me extra excited about where we are heading to in the next session. It's like a story being told in real time and we are all participants of the unfolding.

I think by far my favourite is the elemental series, re-ignited by the retreat series with @jordynmbateson and @hanamaykapa

Tonight's slow flow elemental series will be completed with a session in the ethers 🌀 before we break for school holidays.

And you bet I will be bringing a Hau inspired movement journey to the Hau retreat coming up in a couple weeks!! I have so many exciting airy fairy elements to share with you all!

Typical air sign here, I am in my element!! 🌬

That's all for now, love you xx

Some people don’t return to your life because you went looking for them.

Sometimes they just arrive at the right time. ⏳🖤🌿

Today, Evander and I spent time with Uncle Dane. 👨‍👦🤝

Dane Scott and I go back a long way. We studied marine science together at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic 🌊🤿🐚, long before either of us knew where life would take us.

Years passed. ⏳
Different roads. 🛤️
Different experiences. 🌏

Then last week, an old brother reached out. 📞🤝🖤

Today we sat together again.

We spoke deeply about community 🤝, belonging 🌿, tikanga, truth, and the difference between inheriting something and genuinely understanding it. 🧠🧭

Dane has developed a beautiful relationship with sound and taonga pūoro 🎶🌬️ — including the pūtōrino — through years of listening, learning and genuine curiosity. 👂🌿

And the timing wasn’t lost on me. ⏳

Because today I’ve also been thinking deeply about Evander’s road ahead. 👦🏽👣

His schooling. 📚
His cultures. 🌏
His communities. 🤝
The people who will surround him. 🫂

Then Uncle Dane walks back through the door. 🚪🖤

Maybe our children don’t need one place to give them everything.

Maybe our responsibility is to surround them with good people. 🫂🌱

People who remain curious. 🧠
Develop capability. 💪
Question respectfully. 🧭
And never stop learning. 📚🌿

Evander doesn’t need to become Papa.

He doesn’t need to become Uncle Dane.

He needs enough good people around him that one day he has the grounding and confidence to become Evander. 👣🌱🖤

The past matters. 🌿

But perhaps one of its greatest purposes is introducing the next generation to people worth carrying forward. 🤝👨‍👦🌱

Welcome back, Uncle Dane. 🖤🤝🌊🎶

The timing wasn’t lost on me. ⏳🧭

— Papa 🖤

Recently we took a walk on the farm loop for our monthly team meeting. It was a chance to discuss the upcoming Fruit & Forage edible walking trail thanks to @maearthstudio (first planting this Saturday!), and check out some of the work done in the silvopasture and agroforestry paddocks. It'll be great to see this whole loop bursting with new tree life in years to come.

He kaupapa ka tipu i te mahi ngātahi 🤎

Recently, Haumanu Collective had the privilege of supporting Oro Mauri Wānanga ki Karioi, a kaupapa that brought together hapori, whānau, and friends to deepen their understanding of taonga pūoro through the teachings and practices of Te Whare o Oro Mauri.

Whetu Silver is a member of both rōpu and was able to support this collaboration. It is always an honour to support kaupapa that create opportunities for people to reconnect with mātauranga Māori, strengthen their understanding of taonga pūoro, and continue the traditions that have been carried through generations.

Every wānanga is unique, shaped by the people, the place, and the kaupapa that brings everyone together. We are grateful to walk alongside organisations and communities who are committed to nurturing these spaces for learning, reflection, and growth.

During a recent ceremony, as I received the medicine of Cacao and dropped deeply into listening, I was shown the warm, confident heart of a Lion.

A heart that holds courage.
A heart that keeps the vision open.
A heart that leads from love, rather than fear.

And within that heart, I saw souls weaving together — each bringing their own unique gifts, medicine, skills and lived experiences in support of a greater kaupapa.

This is what I feel is happening with the journey Agnes and I have begun with the youth of the Solomon Islands. 🌺

We have started bringing our unique gifts together, and honestly, there are still so many unknowns.

I don’t know exactly how this vision will unfold.
I don’t know who will weave with us along the way.
I don’t know how the vision will continue to morph, expand and surprise us.

But I trust.

I trust that when the intention is held in integrity, the right people, opportunities and teachings can find their way into the weaving.

And for me, an important part of this integrity is holding a relationship of appreciation for Cacao, rather than appropriation — listening to its stories, honouring where it comes from, and allowing it to guide us towards connection rather than ownership.

There has already been so much weaving to make this journey back to Solomon Islands possible. From guidance, introductions, encouragement, financial support and so many forms of unseen and seen generosity — I am deeply, deeply grateful. 🤎

Thank you to everyone who has believed in this vision, supported it, shared it, contributed to it or simply held it in your heart.

And if Cacao is connected to you in any way, this is my wish for you:

May you pause and listen to the wisdom it carries.

No matter where your Cacao comes from, may you take the time to listen to its story, honour its origins, and allow yourself to be inspired by what it invites you to contribute.

Because perhaps the medicine is not about what Cacao can give us…

but about what it can awaken through us.

May we each bring our unique gift to the weaving.
May we remember that we are part of something bigger.
And may we continue choosing connection, reciprocity, appreciation

Allowing our unlimited self to flourish through artistic creations 🦋

Our new podcast is out today 🎧
In this episode, I had a wonderful conversation with @danescottcreative 🤩

We begin our sharing starting from the seed of creativity planted from the previous generations in his lineage.
Starting his path into his education in biology and environment and following his passion for seeing the world through the creative lens of his camera as a way of storytelling.

Thank you Dane for inquiring about the possibility of remembering and exploring the value of our own presence and our natural landscape around us to return to the here and now. 🥰🙏

Our hope is for you to keep sharing the importance of telling stories in whatever form of creative expressions we feel, using mediums to connect and empower ourselves authentically.💗

Buon ascolto!

Mangaroa Farms is turning degraded pasture waterways into thriving ecosystems of regeneration and renewal. In just over 3 years, many of the waterways on what was once dairy farm land have been fenced, planted, and now thriving with new life.

These densely planted riparian margins filter sediment and nutrient runoff before it reaches the water, shade and cool the stream for tuna [longfin eel] and kōura [freshwater crayfish], and hold the banks together through winter flows.

The work continues one stretch at a time, and there is always room for more hands.

Get involved and join the community planting day this weekend - Saturday 15 August, from 10am - 3pm.

Our beloved radish microgreens are now certified organic through @organic_farm_nz - a big milestone for the farm as it's our first organic certification. A big thank you to Cam and Tyler for seeding and nurturing these little ones, and the certification process.

Small veges, big standards. Grown in living certified-organic soil and harvested just across the paddock from the Farm Shop / Kete Kai.

Last night was one of the coldest nights of the winter, with ice in the cow troughs and the whole valley under a blanket of frost ❄️

Our winter residency team was out early anyway, hot water bottles and all, finishing the recently planted trees by protecting them with mats and guards to support their early growth stages. In the mix are oaks, chestnuts, poplars and natives interspersed.

These oaks specifically are fast-growing, high-performing species, selected for timber. They also have less impact on the land than traditional pine forestry, and will do a great job of carbon sequestration too.

These young trees are also the first ones turning pasture into a permanent planting site, chosen so we can watch and learn over decades.

The solstice has passed, and Matariki is here - marking the start of Māori New Year, crossing the threshold of shorter days and the cold, chilly rain.

The silver lining is that it's the perfect time for gathering together with warming food and nourishment that comes from those slow meals by the fire. We trust you and your whānau had a nourishing time over the long weekend.

Here's some of our favourite moments from this winter season, thanks to the awesome @danescottcreative who's a part of our Winter Residency program for the gorgeous imagery.
