Liveroo Journal: Day 34

Haha, I bet that got you going! I’m talking about farting (it’s the same word across the pond?) Chris Wright, our local (now retired) GP, used to say that chickpeas were the work of the devil. He’s the same age and struggled with his weight as well. He referred me to the surgery’s own dietician whilst giggling about the effects of increasing fibre in the diet. One of my old diabetes prevention consultants, Daniel Galata, (sorry, former, not old), used to say “add, not take away” so you don’t feel deprived. Increase fibre, he recommended, and you won’t have room for the fattening stuff. So the benefits are thus:
• Increased Satiety: (that’s posh for full). Helps you feel satisfied with smaller portions so reduces overall calorie consumption
• Blood Sugar Regulation: soluble fibre, especially, can slow down the absorption of sugar, preventing spikes and crashes in blood glucose. Reduces cravings and overeating
• Improved Digestion: fibre adds bulk to the stool (poo), promoting efficient elimination of yukky stuff from the body
• Reduced Calorie Density: fibre-rich foods often have fewer calories per serving, making it easier to maintain a calorie deficit for weight reduction
There, your trump card. Not gold, or even orange.

The birth partner and his hopes and wishes for his baby’s (babies!) birth is as important to me as the mummy’s.

Enabling them to understand their role and to focus on their loved one as she labours and births,is a big part of the birth experience.

I am always so grateful for the reviews I receive. They mean so much.

Thank you @daniel.galata

Another day of eating for my hungry babe. I haven’t included in the captions, but most if not all of the meat and diary we give is organic and grass fed.

We do our best to provide organic fruit, veg and wheat too but our biggest priority is animal products.

Another high priority is variety, did you know after age 2 it is significantly more difficult to get toddlers to try foods? But even less foods they have never seen before. Try your best to give as much variety and expose your younger baby to as many “weird” foods as possible in the first 2 years. We have 8 months left to continue building as many good habits as possible before normal toddler fussiness may arrive!

Only one breastfeed on this day too!

We’re eating good 😌 here’s an example of what me and my 16 month old eat on a normal day. I’ve included everything apart from water which he has plenty of throughout the day. He ate 90% of what I served for each meal. If he doesn’t, that’s also ok but I don’t offer alternatives.

Incase you’re worried your 16 month old eats nothing like this, there so many scales of normal. We just have a big eater. Going to be an expensive child to feed 😅

Let me know if you’re interested in seeing more of what we eat!

Peep our @highchaircatchy saving us at every meal 🙏🏽

1 hour of my Sunday makes all the difference to my week. Here’s everything I prepared to make my week easier with a hungry toddler. I always prep on Sundays when my partner is around. I’m not blessed with a long napper (or sleeper 🫠) so I can’t get much done during nap times. Butter beans recipe is @boobtofood. Comment if you’re interested in seeing more of what I prep next week!

Gained weight overnight? 😮🤬
•
Probably not! It is perfectly normal for your weight to fluctuate by a few kilos on a daily basis. Your weight is affected by a whole host of different things.. 👀🤨
•
Some tips for recording your weight; use the same scales; same time of day; ideally first thing in the morning, fasted, after using the bathroom👌🏽💁🏽‍♂️
•
Try not to take daily weight as gospel! Weigh yourself a few times a week (or everyday) and at the end of each week take average of all weights recorded. Use that 🙏🏽🙌🏽
