POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This one's for the people who show up every single week, rain or shine, headtorch on. @englandathletics ' Volunteer Awards has an "Unsung Hero" category this year, for the coaches, run leaders and helpers who make clubs like ours what they are; so here's our own version. Gav, our Backyard Ultra and long-distance king who never stops helping new runners find their feet. Rob, the Labrador of the trails, community first, always up for a laugh. Dan C and Hayley, co-directing Coastal Trail Runners on top of leading our own sessions week in, week out. Dan U, stolen from the cycling world and already leading from the heart. Gem, who found her people at an Open Trail Night and became a leader herself. And Adam, our newest recruit, turning Tuesday nights into a party and cataloguing every ancient tree along the way. ITR wouldn't exist without every single one of you. Thank you for the miles, the torches, and every nervous first-timer put at ease. 💚 Tag a run leader (or session mate!) who's shaped your ITR journey below 👇

Saturday night was awesome - it was great to speak at Debrief Adventure Festival 2026 - Suffolk’s own adventure festival!

I was nervous but really enjoyed speaking about competing at the Winter Swimming World Championships in Finland, taking on a 25-mile paddleboarding race, paddleboarding across England and all things cold water swimming and SUP.

I also spoke about being a @thisgirlcansuffolk Ambassador and encouraging girls and women locally to get fit and active 💪

My exciting new guidebook, Swimming Wild in London and South East England, was available to buy and it was fab to sell some copies and speak to people about it. Thanks to my friend @kellycoastal_adventures for coming with me.

It was great to hear all the other speakers: @bertpark99 @rubbishwalks @daniel_j_clark_

There was also several clubs in attendance: @rootscommunitysuffolk @ipswichtrailrunners @attitudemartialarts @suffolkpunchpickleball @suffolkrucking

Plus organisations @coastaltrailrunners @weareembercreative

It was a fabulous venue @thechurchipswich too. Thanks for having me Debrief!

What a night at Debrief Adventure Festival.

Stories shared, ideas challenged, and a room full of people who understand that moving through wild places is never just about the miles.

@bertpark99, @rubbishwalks, @natashastarseeker, and our very own @ipswichtrailrunners run leader and @coastaltrailrunners race director @daniel_j_clark_ took to the stage to talk about what actually matters in active communities. Not just the doing, but the why. The relationships built on trails, water, and our green corridors. The resilience that shows up quietly in everyday life. The way adventure strips everything back to something honest.

One thread ran through it all: the more we take from the outdoors, the more we owe back. Adventure comes with responsibility. To the land, to the ecosystems we move through, to the communities that exist long after we hang up our race bibs.

Ipswich Trail Runners were there because this is exactly the conversation we want to be part of. We are a club built on trails, on Suffolk soil, on showing up for each other and for the places that hold us. Nights like this remind us that what we are building goes beyond a run timetable. It is about belonging to something that gives a damn.

Proud of Dan for representing us on that stage. And grateful to everyone who keeps asking the bigger questions.

We are so lucky to be part of a hub Suffolk adventurers.

Happy Birthday @ipswichtrailrunners 💚 🎂🎉

This is how we do it.... Woodland trail run to start off the day, exploring the footpaths through the trees,. Ufo spotting and soaking up the sun.🛸👽

Drinks and picnic to refuel with lots of chit chat and laughter filling the air, adventures being planned, races thrown into the ring and trail runs vibes floating in the air. 🍕 🍺 🌳

Then... Dun dun duuuuun... The beer mile, 3 teams with 3 people per team stood on that line.. Drink a beer, run 400m pass the baton to your team mate.. A 12x 400m relay.. Each team mate having to drink 4 beers and run a mile and somehow... Sooooome how, nobody 🤮 🤮 🤮

It was great fun with a similarthe sensation of being 80 miles into an ultra trying to eat and drink and run 😂

The trail running club that's so much more than other clubs.. Fun times over race times.

Why not check us out...

SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉
We welcome Dan Clark to the line-up.

A self-described mid-pack ultrarunner, but at heart an adventurer in the truest sense. With around 40 marathons and 30 ultramarathons behind him, Dan has taken on some of the wildest challenges out there, from 100-mile mountain races to crossing entire countries on foot. Curious?

🏅 6 x SVP100
💯 3 x Centurion 100 miles
🏞️ 2 x Lakeland 100 1 x Lakeland 50
🏞️ 1 x The Lap

⛰️ UTMB - 105 miles of France, Italy Switzerland - possibly the world's most famous trail ultramarathon.

👏Arc of Attrition - 100 miles of the Cornish coastline

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Race across Scotland - 220 miles coast to coast

🌨️ Winter Spine - 268 miles of Pennine Way glory

But Dan's isn’t just a story about running, it’s about curiosity, pushing boundaries, and chasing something bigger than comfort.

Dan’s journey started with a simple goal back in 2015 and quickly became a pursuit of endurance, freedom, and the unknown. From cycling 120 miles on a whim to grinding through sleepless nights in the hills, his story is packed with grit, humour, and that pull we all recognise, the desire to see what’s out there, and what we’re capable of when we go after it.

Dan is also a Race Director at @coastaltrailrunners with Hayley - as well as hear Dans story, you'll be able to meet them both at Debrief over at their exhibition stand too...who knows...maybe your first (or next!) race is closer than you think.
