NATHAN HILL PRODUCTIONS WRAPS 14TH FEATURE FILM, ‘AFTER THE RAIN’, FOLLOWING CHALLENGING NIGHT SHOOT IN WARRANDYTE: Independent filmmaker Nathan Hill completes his latest feature thriller, marking a major production milestone for NHP. Nathan Hill Productions (NHP) has officially wrapped principal photography on After the Rain, the company’s 14th feature film, following a gruelling night shoot in the forests of Warrandyte, Melbourne. The production was not without significant challenges. After losing both a co-writer and co-producer during pre-production, filmmaker Nathan Hill stepped forward to take charge of the project, determined to bring his vision to the screen despite the setbacks. Reuniting for a second time with Director of Photography Zev Howley, Hill successfully brought the production across the finish line. The collaboration also marks a significant milestone for the pair, who have now completed two feature film shoots in under 12 months — a feat NHP describes as a new record for Melbourne’s independent film scene. Casting proved to be another major hurdle. Described by the production as one of its most challenging casting processes to date, the film’s lead female roles attracted more than 200 actresses auditioning for consideration. Following an extensive selection process, Hao Dao was cast as the film’s antagonist, while Mikaela Pangan secured the protagonist role, completing the central casting for the project. With principal photography now complete, After the Rain represents another milestone in NHP’s ongoing commitment to independent filmmaking, demonstrating the determination, collaboration and persistence required to bring ambitious screen projects to life.
