POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

More photos from @danielchenin’s immaculate Three Iron project in Las Vegas, recently published by @elledecoration_es.

I promised to share the full-size basketball court in the basement, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to post some of the, for want of a better word, fanciest moments from the shoot.

Port Side by Daniel Joseph Chenin (@danielchenin ), reinterprets a mid-century beach house on the La Jolla coast through light, texture, and spatial clarity. A carved interior courtyard brings daylight and coastal breezes into the home, while layered spaces, integrated millwork, and natural materials create a calm and enduring retreat.

New work for @elledecoration_es

I’m happy to finally share these images from this incredible Las Vegas project by @danielchenin.

Here’s my favorite shot from the shoot, the dining room with its spectacular view of the mountains, followed by the serene pool at sundown.

And I have to say, this is the first house I’ve ever photographed with a full-size basketball court in the basement. I’ll save that one for another post.

“UNLV is a big part of my story. I didn’t graduate, leave Las Vegas, and build a career somewhere else. I chose to stay in Southern Nevada. Being able to return to UNLV to teach, mentor students, and stay involved in our local design community has given me a chance to show the next generation that great architecture with a national and international presence can come from right here in Las Vegas.”

The internationally recognized architect and College of Fine Arts Alumnus of the Year, Daniel Joseph Chenin, ‘02 ‘05, has built a practice inspired by Southern Nevada while mentoring the next generation of designers.

The experience of living in a home can shape the architecture from the inside out. For @danielchenin, that thinking comes from years spent designing hospitality environments where every element of the guest experience had to work together.

His residential studio carries that same principle into the home, bringing architecture, interiors, landscape and procurement together under one design vision.

Each project begins with the client and the site rather than a predetermined aesthetic. Chenin develops multiple ideas internally before presenting a single considered direction, allowing the design to evolve with clarity.

That approach can produce dramatically different homes, from coastal retreats to desert residences, while maintaining a consistent focus on spatial experience, material depth and the relationship between architecture and its surroundings.

We design the kitchen as the heart of the home, the room around which the rest of the house gathers.

No two kitchens look alike, because no two families cook, host, or gather in quite the same way. Whether in a city penthouse or a coastal retreat, we work hand-in-hand with our interior design teams, layering hardworking, durable materials alongside warm, inviting finishes to create kitchens that are functional, comfortable, and beautiful.

Raw materiality and solid modern geometry in dialogue with the rough textures of the desert scenery. Architectural inspiration by @danielchenin, from the Hummingbird project.
