Xavier Sylvia-Jackson photographed in our upstate studio by @danieljacklyons. We are thrilled to present our Autumn Residency exhibition this weekend surveying the works of 27 artists who have lived and worked with us in Potsdam over the last two months.

Xavier Sylvia-Jackson (b. 2003, Cleveland, Ohio) is a Providence based artist working primarily in painting, drawing and collage. He received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2025. His work comes from a love of Black musics, and often borrows from them in affect, form, and approach. This process involves combining found materials and imagery with simple gestures which are quick, direct and without the illusion of control.

✨ We are pleased to announce the commercial representation of photographer @danieljacklyons ✨

His most recent solo exhibition, opened at NOON Projects in Los Angeles in June 2026 — his first show in the city — and grew out of relationships he developed with members of sCUM, a queer club night that ran in East Los Angeles from 2016 to 2020. His debut monograph, (Loose Joints, 2022), documents queer and trans youth in the Brazilian Amazon.

Trained as an anthropologist, American photographer Daniel Jack Lyons approaches photography as a form of sustained, reciprocal engagement; returning to the same people across months and years, allowing trust to accumulate before the camera is raised. The result is a body of work that reads less as documentary than as collaborative portraiture: images arrived at together, bearing the mark of everyone who made them.
