She offers rain without a price,
the gold of morning, given twice —
once to the soil, once to the eye
that stops to watch the light go by.
She gives the root that cracks the stone,
the hive that makes a house a home,
the river’s long and silver speech,
the fruit that hangs within our reach.
She asks for nothing back but care,
just witness — breathe her into air,
remember how the redwood grew,
how she made room for me and you.
Yet we have stripped her bare of trees,
have stilled the birds, have choked the bees,
have taken more than hands should hold
and sold her green to feed our gold.
So let today be more than grief —
let it be root, let it be leaf,
let it be the stubborn vine
that grows through concrete, stone, and time.
She is still giving. Still. Right now.
The question is —
will we remember how?

I want to update everyone how I’m doing but I’m thinking most would prefer not to know. I know I wouldn’t want to know. (ALS if you haven’t heard)
To summarize, I can say, I continue to get weaker. Even using my phone for this post or a text message is actual effort and energy when a year ago, wasn’t the case. Both my arms are nearly paralyzed.

If you’d like to hang out or get together, please let me know sooner than later. It’s getting harder to go out. I’ve met amazing people on IG, many I’ve fortunately been able to meet in person and has meant a lot to me.

I’ve lost so much independence over the past year. Getting used to it but nothing makes it easier.

Then, there are some people who were friends or acquaintances that regularly chatted, have disappeared. Totally understandable and happens to everyone with a terminal illness. I have no resentment or hard feelings, I may have done the same, it’s uncomfortable and so unreal. 💔
