Some of you may remember me mentioning a dog I met back in November...

I was a vendor at an event at Firefly when someone fostering a sweet pup walked by. I knelt down to say hello, and before I knew it, he climbed right into my lap and rested his head on my shoulder.

That evening I told my husband Trent, “I met the sweetest dog today. If he’s still available when we get back from our trip, I think we should adopt him.”

When we got home, he had already been adopted. As happy as I was that he’d found a family, I couldn’t stop thinking about him.

Six months later, I saw he had been returned to the shelter because of a breed restriction at his family’s apartment. It wasn’t anyone’s fault—it just wasn’t the right fit.

Then I came across a video announcing he was available again. A HUGE thank you to @danielleinchs , for sharing that post... without it, our paths may never have crossed again.

The moment I saw him, I knew this was our second chance.

Meet Cheech.💙

He’s already claimed the couch, the studio, and our hearts. While no dog could ever replace our sweet Remi, I’ve learned that loving another dog doesn’t mean loving Remi any less. Our hearts simply grow to make room. And somehow, I think Remi would’ve approved of this goofy guy.

Cheech is definitely not an apartment dog. 😅 He spends his days racing around our yard, supervising portrait sessions, stealing bits of wool, and making us laugh every single day. I think he ended up exactly where he was meant to be.

You’ll definitely be seeing more of him around here... and yes, he’s already getting the full WOOLf treatment. His portrait is officially in the works. 🐾

May 23, 2026 - What dreams are made of 🤍

November 24, 2024, I walked into the shelters overflow garage bay, to see a sea of dogs lined in crates — but one stuck out in particular.

Beth. Her jaw was ripped open & had wounds all over her chest and neck (see last video). To this day, I wish she could tell me what happened, & tell me her story, but maybe it’s better I don’t know.

All I know is, her life only changed for the better since that day. Beth is my second longest foster I have ever had, right behind Yeller. She said hello & goodbye to [24] dogs, [3] kittens, and [2] pigs. She had multiple meet & greets that didn’t work out, which sent me on a roller coaster of emotions, preparing myself for goodbye everytime.

To know Beth, is to love Beth. You only have to meet her for a few seconds to fall in love with her & over the last year & half, she snuck into a lot of people’s hearts. She welcomed every single animal into my home with grace & tail wags & she meshed so well with my pack. This was one of the most difficult goodbyes I’ve ever had to make.

So many people couldn’t understand how she was still up for adoption all this time, but all I can think of is — God put her in my life for a reason, a season, & he gave me a year and a half of beautiful memories until her forever family found her. Loving a dog, saving a dog, changing a dog, doesn’t measure in minutes, days or weeks in time — but by the memories you shared. I didn’t just save her, but she saved me, too.

Thank you for being her forever mom, @claudiartate while I got to be her first mom. I love you, Beth 🤍
