TWO WONDERFUL YEARS OF THIS COMMUNITY!

Thank you to all of our vendors who came out to celebrate with us.

Thank you to @saparksandrec for being a wonderful host, partner, and space for San Antonians to gather.

Most importantly, thank you to EVERYONE who has ever came to a meeting (or added it to a calendar with intent to come 🤣)! You all make this community so special and welcoming, and I cannot thank you enough for getting us to TWO years.

Here’s to many more!

#latergram I saw the 2005 Pride and Prejudice four times over Easter weekend with different friends at each showing. To say this is my favorite movie is an understatement! I hope they show it in theaters again for the 25th anniversary!

Artists are often inspired by muses, and I am no exception. My latest piece, “Why Are We Banning Books,” was inspired by one of mine.

The year was 1986, and I had no idea that in Ms. Cooper's biology class, I would be paired with a friend I've cherished for nearly 40 years. This is not a love-at-first-sight story, but rather a tale of meeting my match. If anyone can out-sass me, it’s Danielle Wilkes. Little did I know that by pairing me with Danielle to dissect Kermit the frog—and enduring frog innards tossed my way by her—Ms. Cooper was giving me a friendship that I treasure to this day. Danielle has always been the one to tell it like it is; she told me I was gay, and lo and behold, she was right.

We've shared countless adventures, created endless Stevie and Dani mixtapes, and even had crushes on the same boys. We both lived in Galveston, a chapter of our lives that can only be described as our Gatsby era. We’ve laughed and cried together. Although we are now three hours apart and don’t talk every day, I think of her often, knowing that if we ever need each other, we're just a call away, shovel in hand if necessary. When we do get the chance to be in the same room, we pick up right where we left off, as if no time has passed. Danielle is so many things—smart, beautiful, an advocate, teacher, incredible cook, mother, wife, and the best friend one could ever have.

These end of year things are so much fun to see! I think this is the first year my EPP posts rivaled my Longarming 😜. When I look back I see so much joy in the things I got to create (baby Luke included 😉), and I feel so lucky to have gotten to quilt for the amazing makers who bring their creations to me ♥️.
This year has been weird and difficult and happy all at the same time. I hope that 2022 brings wonderful things for us all (let’s get rid of that damned virus, how bout it?!) and I hope you have a VERY happy new year 🥳🎉!
Thanks for hanging around with me this year and also for sharing your creations 😘!

Pics are tagged with maker info on my client quilts 😊. I don’t know the IG for Virginia V.-but she made the Tula Pink quilt in the middle, far right.

My uncle, closest friend, father, brother, family patriarch, consigliere, and hero has passed. This came out of left field for me, so I’m just in shock for the great loss and hole left in the world today. I will miss many things from our late night chats, all night Game of Thrones binges, road trips, unconditional love and advice, but most of all, for being my rock. And now his watch has ended and we shall never see his like again.

Happy Gotcha Day to Jane the Long Arm!

I think I've quilted FOUR quilts on this baby over the last year! I guess that's one per quarter!
Considering that I work full time mostly outside the home, have a family, and also really enjoy piecing quilts, I think that's not too bad!

I'm hoping maybe I can do another FOUR this year.

Wow talk about a flashback! This was the first SAMQG quilt retreat at Ye Kindall Inn in Boerne, TX. I was so productive at that retreat! Also, pre-baby and pre-honey. Maybe that explains why it was so productive.
