Kaya mahalaga to sakin.

DEF_ND OR DEF_ND BASKETBALL

Whenever our national basketball team takes the court, the same debate seems to surface as to why we are still obsessing with this sport and putting our resources into something we always fall short of winning.

As athletes emerge and succeed in sports aside from basketball, more pressing inquiries are thrown everywhere. Why are we still putting so much into this game?

For Baller Room, a stand, opinion, and conversations are important. That’s why we present this piece as a custom tee that you can customize at our booth.

This is Baller Room’s attempt at creating a statement T-shirt that exists somewhere between a personal stand and a public conversation. This is engagement, a voice.

You can only pick one letter from the choice of two, U or E. You don’t have to be a basketball player, an expert, or whatever. Being a Filipino tied to a sport that’s almost consumed us every day, that is enough. Questioning our relationship with this game that’s inseparable from our flag is our act of participation.

In Danny’s eyes:

2024, in the workplace we shared at the time, I’d have obnoxiously made known to everyone my new found climbing addiction, not knowing that @danny.cstllo the newest addition to our nightlife crew of weirdo creatives, has been climbing for years.

My climbing phase was short-lived, but I’m glad that in that time, I got to know this kindred spirit who wrote and watched and shared her own stories,

that I was honored to just listen and take to heart.

The Boyhood, the Joni Mitchell enjoyer, and Ocean Vuong (specifically that dua lipa interview that was surprisingly insightful) analyst she was, and all the other pieces of art we both shared, we knew we were letting each other know different parts of ourselves too.

It was no doubt that I wanted Danny to capture THIS MARK of my life,

because we had all that.

Intro to Nonfiction Hearing 🍊 Thank you to Deo for doing this with me :~)

I’m just glad I get to do this with you! I noticed we spend so much time expressing how much we care about certain people, places, and things, and how nice it would be to share these feelings with everyone—not with the intention of gaining traction, but simply to have an excuse to gather and talk. Or kahit na tayo parin ang nagu-usap dito.

Anyway, marami-rami kaming gustong pag-usapan!

📍Photo taken at Zeus’ studio, where I was invited to document Deo’s interview for their exhibition notes (which we will also post about!). Zeus offered us oranges. Naalala ko yung tula ni Wendy Cope.
