Born and based in Miami, Ochoa draws on his Cuban and Colombian heritage, blending ancestral techniques with contemporary design. His practice fuses traditional woodworking and textiles with innovative approaches, exploring identity, life cycles, and the interplay between contrasting materials and ideas. His work celebrates the enduring relevance of handmade artistry while pushing the boundaries of craft, art, and design.

Beacons, structures inspired by the past and created in the future, they exist neither here nor there, like a beacon of light drenched in silver rain.

Think of it like an oven. In the spring, the oven turns on. In high summer, the oven is fully hot. The sun is at its highest point in the sky. The days are the longest.

This exhibition takes in the spirit, of a sun-filled room that holds a little bit of everything: furniture, art, sculpture, a place to gather.

Reliquia : a new series of cast bronze works.

Each Reliquia considers memory as something carried through material. Cast in bronze, these contemporary objects for the table draw from the enduring language of medieval metalwork, seeking forms that feel both present and inherited.

The title, Reliquia “that which remains” speaks to the quiet persistence of objects that endure, becoming vessels for memory through time. Each work is intended to evoke the feeling of a cherished possession: contemporary in form, yet carrying a sense of history.

Florida Room V: High Summer brings together a collection of artists whose works encompass functional sculpture, objects, lighting, textiles, and experimental design that explore ideas of warmth, leisure, color, and a sense of place. Through a wide range of materials, techniques, and perspectives, the exhibition reflects not only on the feeling of a season, but more so on an atmosphere, memory, and way of experiencing the world.

Each participating artist and designer approaches these themes in a distinct way, creating works built to be lived with as much as looked at, balancing function and experimentation while celebrating materiality and craft.
